Those of you who were at Knockwood may recall me and Speewa performing a magnificent rendition of the first verse of Arlo Guthrie's "City of New Orleans".

Just saw this page which includes the words, so you can learn them yourselves and sing along to the seriously dodgy cgi.

http://trainfanatics.com/arlo-guthriecity-new-orleans/

It is even better if you create your own personalised lyrics, as I used to do when living in Brisbane and regularly seeing the city of Rockhamptom waiting to depart Roma St of an afternoon.

Listening to some of the old Sunbury Tapes, 72, 73 and 74
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsBcG_OW6kE

The 72 Sunbury has a great version of Carlos Santana's "Soul Sacrifice" done by Pirana...

Not bad eh, that's one band I haven't heard before, well I don't think I have. Just listened to a couple of youtubes of them, and I quite like them.
I'm playing a bit of Mossy tonight, and some old Icehouse/flowers.

I finally got motivated and broke out my old Technics SL-Q303 turntable today and gave it a clean up. Listening to Paul Simon - Gracelands, Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life, and a couple of Linda Ronstadt LPs. Man, it leaves digital for dead in depth and character of sound. This unfortunately leaves me with the dreaded task of cleaning up all my old vinyl  :'(

Oh, for you younger mob... LP records (commonly called vinyl these days) are big black round things that have grooves in them and contain music that sounds like music, instead of decapitated music.

If I had a pre-amp I would drag out my Technics SL 120. One day maybe. Had a listen to some new Dynaudio x-18 speakers today. My tongue is still dragging on the ground. Maybe a new amp and speakers for xmas. Current receiver won't run 4 ohm so stuck both ways. Still have all my old vinyl  :D

If you think that hurts, wait until the teenage years come along. It's exactly the same.
The same song, over and over and over, still sung waaaay out of key, pitch, tune and any other musical term you can think of.

But the Shit they listen to is 1000 times worse than The Wiggles. Kids singing The Wiggles is cute, innocent etc, yes annoying, but you grin and bare it. The utter garbage teenagers listen to, MAKES YOUR EARS BLEED!!!!! AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Then they'll play and sing/sung/wronged THE SAME Shit TOMORROW!!!

Wiggles aren't bad ;D
It gets worse.
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

I'm finding a liking to the soundtracks of Quentin Tarantino's later movies, with an old western/country theme such as:

This one from Django Unchained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeG3mjDXIv4

and from this movie trailer for the Hateful Eight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trqB1pYN4fk

is this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnDyCTt8yoA

Cheers,

Mark.
