Hi Guys,

Currently we are camping with a Tourer 9 plus tent, it is great to put up and pack away.  It just takes to much space in the car.  Further I find getting all our camping stuff packed into the car takes so long camping becomes an effort.  So I have decided that a camping trailer should make things much easier, or maybe that`s just an excuse!

I want something that is quick to setup for one night stays. Both my wife and I work 9 to 5 jobs in the big smoke and we would like to get into the bush more often with our 6 year old daughter.  There is also a dog that will have to tag along most of the time.

At the moment I am looking at either a secondhand hardfloor trailer or a Skamper Kamper with a Kwik tent. Budget is up to 8k.  For now I will be pulling it with a Forester 2.5 Auto.  I love backroads, anything I can do with a Forester.

Will be visiting the Sydney 4WD show (http://sydney.4wdshow.com.au/) next weekend to have a look at some of the trailers on offer, but I think second hand would be the way to go.

Welcome to myswag, hope you enjoy the journey. Lot's of good advice and experience here and your budget should get you a quality 2nd hand Aussie Built CT.

I appreciate your story, when our 2 boys were younger and we had the tent set up, it easily took up to 6hrs to pack the gear into the car/trailer, then set everything up after the long drive (good camping spots never close to home). Also hated cleaning up and unpacking when we got home.
Our new Trackie is preloaded with everything we need these days except for fresh food and cold drink, and if the site is level, we can be set up in 20 to 30mins max.

Enjoy your research and journey and most importantly, look past the bling. It's the nuts and bolts that are the most important.

An option is to hire a few different ones to see what works for you before spending the hard cash.  There are a few places in Sydney the hire hard floor campers.  We did this and found it was a great way to think about what we wanted.
