Scott,

Firstly congrats on your decision, they're a great camper....

When we purchased our Swan OB earlier this year, we optioned for:
- Fiamma Awning
- Hot Water
- Second Water Tank
- Coast Water/Battery Level Gauge
- Bed Flies
- Cd/Stereo
- Club Lounge Converter
- Hyland Off-road Hitch

Now I wish I had optioned also:
- Shelving in wardrobe
- Winegard Aerial
- TV
- Solar Panel

The shelving & aerial are being fitted shortly by an authorised installer, at a price well above what it would have cost me at the time of ordering the camper...but alas, we had a budget to stick to and couldn't stretch it to include these four additions at the time...

Hi Jam0
Congratulations mate you will not be disappointed.  The wait might kill you.  When I purchased our Swan outback I did'nt think I needed an annex so I just ordered the Kakadu awning as the kids probably wouldn't sleep in it anyway.  I have been kicking myself ever since I think the annex is a must more room to spread out especially on those rainy days.  Good luck mate.
Cheers Terry.

Actually good point Sixpack....

I saw the Kakadu Annexes stand at the recent Penrith Camping show...The wifey loved the space, especially the little side rooms that can be included...we got a quote for a draught skirt from them and will chase them up later this year (a lot of cold wind gets under camper and wifey hates it)...maybe Santa might bring me an enclosed annex and side rooms  ;D

Take this on board - it is wise advice IMO- I once owned a Jayco camper!
1/ These campers are heavy on the tow bar to start with.
2/ If you go and fit all those accessories there will be little weight provision left for all the other stuff you normally pack.
3/ Solar and LED lights & you may not need a second battery and the issues that come with it.

I picked my 2015 Swan OB up recently and my options were:-
  • HWS and external shower
  • full Kakadu annex and bed end flies
  • dual water tanks
  • dual gas bottles
  • TV and fusion stereo
  • wind up aerial and roof mounted solar panel.

I haven't used the full annex yet but will do so next week and I think it will be great as it will provide us with a little privacy outside the van.

The roof mounted solar panel kept my battery completely charged up on a recent 3 day trip off the beaten track.

The HWS was a god send. I wasn't sure it would be used but not only does my wife love it but I also love being able to have a hot water shower straight out of the van and washing our kids has just become that much easier.

We haven't used the TV yet as camping for us is not about having the kids sit inside watching TV but it will get used next week when we are at a caravan park for a week and need some XXXX time alone.

There are 2 things I wish I had ordered from new and that is the Kakadu kitchen side awning (I had an after market quote from them and its was $650 installed so it may still be cheaper doing it after market) and shelving in the cupboard. I haven't gotten around to doing internal shelving yet due to lack of time so having it already done would have saved me some hassle. I have purchased a campmart awning for the kitchen side which was only $87 but it is a little more fiddle to put up however saving $600 might be worth it  :D

I have no idea if you can attach a Kakadu annex to your Fiamma awning, but if you can, have a good look at the side rooms before you lay down the cash. I thought the front "verandah" would be the bees knees but it slopes down from the awning, and me being fairly tall, it was way too low. In the centre, between the awning and the outer front side, it was shoulder height. Not much fun stooping the whole time you are cooking a barbie, and even just getting in and out of the annex.

If you do have a wardrobe, it's a piece of cake to fit the shelves yourself. Just a tip though, ours weren't "fixed" so when the wardrobe was laid down to pack when it was empty, the shelves would drop out of place. Never did get around to screwing them to the supports...

Good choice with the Fiamma and portable panels too.

Hope this might help. Enjoy your new camper!

Congrats on the purchase. You'll love it.
Whether you get one and add yourself or have the dealer fit, a kitchen/offside awning is one of the best additions that we have made to our camper.
