Plenty in that price range.

If you like the patriot - check out the Drifta Off Road Tourer. Similar concept. Less coin.   http://www.drifta.com.au/offroad-tourer/

Welcome Steve.

A bit more info would be handy. To start....

How many in your crew? Just 2 adults, or do you need to cater for kids as well? If so, how old, and how many?
What car will be used to tow your new camper?

I'd be looking in the for sale section. Plenty of great units there.

Much cheaper to think what you will be doing and buy a unit all ready prepared, than to buy a cheaper unit and continually add extras to it.
Do you want hard or soft floor? Need or want solar? What is the tow vehicle?
When you have found a brand you like, search on here for problems and modifications people have done to them.
There are a lot of different campers out there.
We found an Australian Off Road Oddysey signature fitted the bill. I also liked the Aussie Swag campers.
Landcruiser HDJ100 5spd auto.
Australian Off Road camper 2009 Oddyssey export signature.

And you are asking hear, that is asking for trouble

Start watering the money tree, buy the time everyone gives you their feedback of what is best for you  you will end up in a c c c caravan  >:D. JUST KIDDING SWAGGERS ;D

Join the CUB CLUB  :cup: ( but I might be biased) a lot of hard floor camper for the money. You will find a brand new model in your price range no problems.

My serious advice  :police:look on the second hand market for a quality proven example. You will pick up a high end glamour model with all the fruit second hand for your price range.

Good luck with the hunt. Plenty of FINE examples in the MYSWAG classifieds for you to peruse and get a feel of what to expect in your price range.

Aussie swag, its already in the name where its built, and will go anywhere pretty much you could point your car. hard floor quick set up with easy use kitchen. Alot of trailer for nix with plenty left in the budget for fuel.

Sorry guys i posted this while i was at work and wasnt very clear

It is just myself and my partner at the moment kids down the track tho
Tow vehicle is a 2014 bt50 4 inch lift and 35s with all the gear
I am completely new to campers but i want quality
I would prefer to buy new that way i know what its done and its built to suit me
I would prefer a hard floor but not sure my budget is enough to get a quality product that will handle what i will throw at it so i was leaning towards the patriot x1 also i like the departure angle of it also my car is the wrapped the same colour haha gotta look the part if im dropping this sought of money
I have done abit of research but its so overwhelming the amount on the market
I dont know where to start

If it's just the two of you why not a slide on slide off canopy with a roof top tent.. You could build one for around the  10 grand mark and still have all the bells and whistle's

What about Stoney Creek Campers manufactured by the originator of  Trackabout?
I've heard good reports. Not sure if anybody has any personal experience on here?

Hard floors are great for a couple, but a real sqeeze with kids.
Even if you buy new, you'll still be modding it, especially as it'll be your first camper.

One key consideration is your approach to travel, i.e. are you planning on going somewhere and setting up for an extended period or do you expect to be  moving every couple of days.

Depending on your answer setup times could be very important - not much fun spending an hour setting up / packing up every day, however, when  you stay in one spot for a week an hour set up may be of no concern..

just food for thought

steve101. Go up to charmhaven and have a look at and a chat to the owner of Central Coast Campers.

I have one.  Solid, Aussie built and will make changes you want.

You will get a fair bit of change from $30k

Whichever you choose make sure it has decent ground clearance! Our recent cape trip highlighted this, we had a cheaper trailer in our group and it got hammered underneath, the first day on the tele saw its stabilisers get mangled beyond repair, the underneath copped lots of hits, in contrast our cub brumby barely got touched the only thing to touch terra firma was the bash guard protecting the handbrake lever on the draw bar

Bonus of a higher trailer is you can go deeper in water with less worries!

Look at the size of the chassis rails, trailing arms and shocks, big bore shocks are the go here

Nothin wrong with Chinese as long as the quality is good, sadly this is not so common tho

Cheers
2010 TTD Landcruiser, i have added stuff but can't remember what! Slowly gettin quicker at setting up the brumby but breaking camp is another matter....

Yeah i spoke to the bloke about his patriot clone and honestly it rubbed me the wrong way why build a trailer to custom specs use it once and sell it to build another one the same
That tells me you are going to better it
And you dont get warranty or after sales care with a custom one off private built camper trailer

I honestly think im going to go with the patriot x1 family pack

It has plenty of ground clearance like it was said above for cape york its a must well it will have 35s on it the same as my car
