Tyres.......
« on: July 11, 2015, 06:18:58 PM »

Hi guys,
Time is approaching for a new set of shoes for the old girl. Currently I have a set of goodyear silent armour AT's on. Been a very good tyre, but I got them when I mate worked at a tyre place, that ship has now sailed and these things are expensive..... A work friend had federal AT's on his hilux and loves them and my cousin is running Hifly AT's...... I have never heard of HIlfy, looked them up and there are some decent reviews about them......

Both the Hifly and federal tyres are pretty well priced, does anyone have any experience with either, good or bad reviews are welcome?????

Cheers

Maybe send BD a pm, He knows a little bit about tyres and should be able to point you in the right direction to suit your budget.  :cup:

Depends what you expect out of a tyre, but Hifly is pretty much an entry level tyre and made to a Price. Personally I'd spend a little more coin and get something better. Federal is a better tyre and their MT is good for the price just very noisy. If you are after something decent but not pay the world I'd look at Maxxis or Hankook otherwise you csnt go past the new BFG AT or D697 if you are looking at an At

Currently have Hankooks on my vehicle - find them quieter than the Bridgestones I had on the old vehicle (they did have 30k on them though.

Can't comment on life as have only put 6k on them so far.

Thanks

John

Have they changed where they make the goodyears lately?

I just saw that I can get the goodyear silent armour AT's for $219 a piece, is it just me or have they come down in price over the last few years?

Has anyone taken up the offer on Tyre Sales which ends this month.

Buy 3 get 1 free - includes AT and MT tyres, which must be worth a look.

They had to drop at some point as their prices were ridicoulos and they market share was on the downhill. Some of their bigger stuff have almost halfed in price to what they used to be. They really fell behind in this department when other big names dropped their prices they were slow to react.

So as it turns out my tyre contact ship had not sailed, my mate left on good terms with his old boss and hooked me up.....

I ended up with goodyear wrangler dura tracs, fairly aggressive looking AT, took the family up to the snow last weekend and they were great.....

PS

I was never going to put hilfy's on, just wanted t know if anyone had even heard of them because I definitely had not, prob for a good reason too.....

Cheers

I have just ordered the new Bridgestone Mt 674 ( $247) get them fitted in about 3 weeks so will be keen to see how they go. Ive had BFG km2 on my last cruiser and got close 100k out of them but at $395 for 285/75/16  happy to give the 647s ago.
