Could this be the other "I had a dream' moment"?
Oh to have somebody (a politician) here that should even be allowed to polish his shoes.

. To bad he has actually not achieved much during his 2 terms. Except more debt.  No, I still think we are still the lucky country no matter what some think.  But if want to be an American each to their own.   Kevin

I don't care about US politics much, but I do wish our politicians were able to speak as well as Obama does. Regardless of his political ability or lack there of some might even say, the guy knows how to convey his message across, and knows just what to say and when to say it. I can't imagine any of our top Aussie pollies being able to pull off singing a song at a service like that.

I think the USA has one big advantage over Australia.
Political assassinations.
If you can't vote the thieving parasites out, just shoot the bastards, even if the best thing they can do is read a prepared speech nicely  and pretend to care.

I was not going to bite, but  >:(.......   Yea, let's be like them, assassinate leaders.  Are you serious! A lot of very good leaders in good old USA have been murered, I for one would hate to see that happen here.  I think some need to look at our great country, which I love, and see how lucky we are. Sure we have problems and bad politicians but we vote them in and we can vote them out no matter which party you support. Now lets get back to talking about having fun and camping in this beautiful country of ours.  ;D.  Kevin

I wasn't going to bite either. ;D
The title of the original post did however say sometimes???
It would be nice to have a politician who could communicate like Obama, who is probably the greatest orator since Churchill. The only orator with conviction in public office/life in Australia is Noel Pearson. Political debate (nothing to do with political persuasion) here has become introverted and as boring as Bat$hit, not necessarily a good thing for democracy.

Given the gargantuan cock ups he inherited from George  Dubya II,  a blatantly hostile Republican party ruled by nutters in the Tea Party and several foreign and economic crises, he's not done too badly. Obamacare for one. Which they're still trying to destroy.

I'd hate to be an American if republicans get into power. Mick Huckabee's response to the Supreme Court's judgment in allowing same sex marriage was that it was akin to the proclamation of a foreign imperial power. Now an American president who believes the Supreme Court should be ignored, and  resisted, is bloody scary:

"I will not acquiesce to an imperial court any more than our Founders acquiesced to an imperial British monarch," Huckabee said. "We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat."
