Shakey55, you have the Pottsville CP 10 minutes down the road, right on the creek.  Its not to bad.

Or, owned by the same mob...Pottsville north van park...quite nice and plenty of room for camping..

Depends what you want in a van park...if you have young kids, it's hard to go past the Hastings Point Big 4 park. The place ain't cheap, but kids love the water park they have there.

I would rank them;

1. Hastings Point Big4.
2. Pottsville South (nice on the river)
3. Pottsville North
4. Hastings Point CP

Hastings Point is right on the main road so can be a bit noisy and its pretty barren.

We live less than a 3k's from them all and spend at least two long weekends each year at the Big4.  Heaps for the kids to do and there is a spa and sauna place for the adults.  A lot of locals stay at the Big 4.

I think it depends on how good you are in the water.....plus its winter.........the hastings big 4 looked very overcrowded when we cancelled our stay there and moved up the road to the hastings point cp.

There both close to the road, but its not a major road anyway. We had a spot on the creek and could throw the kids on their boards and float down to the river mouth and beach.

Guess it depends on what floats your boat.

Cheers Nomad.

I should have been a little more detailed about the noise.  It is really busy from around 6.15 weekdays as it carries all the traffic up to Kingy.  But its not a highway by any stretch and semis dont use it so all good.

Only an issue if you are a late riser.

Fantastic swimming spot.

If you are down at Hasto's next week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Pirates of the Carabean, with Johnny depp, are filming, just north of Hastings point.
I agree with Dazzler, Tweed coast Road is busy.
My pick during winter is Potty South as you are right on the creek, for opportunities for photographs, paddling in the creek and beach.  The CP at hasto's cops alot of wind directly in from the east, but still is a great spot with some tarp protection. There is morning and arvo traffic along Tweed Coast road. Either way, you'll have some fun. ;)

Stayed at Hastings Point Big4. A very nice & very clean park. On arrival 6:30pm they asked if I was okay to set up in dark, then along came small tractor, hooked up to camper and easily manoeuvred camper into perfect position.  Never ever been offered this service anywhere.

Highly recommended

the tractor service there is a good option, they'll even take it out for you when you leave also. I backed my camper into our site myself last visit there, and it was pretty tight swinging it in even though there looked to be plenty of room at first glance
