Jet, you're a champion
« on: June 07, 2015, 07:01:26 PM »
This is a story about my Projecta battery charger and the service provided by Jetcrew.  It all started on a trip to the Cape in 2012. Travelling with Jetcrew and a few others, my battery charger (not the Projecta) died at Nolan's Brook (not as a result of the crossing as I took the chicken track  :-[). Jet had a spare that he was trialling and promptly lent it to me. At Seisha I ended up buying it from him as there are not a lot of battery chargers for sale in that part of the world.

Fast forward 10 months and the battery charger dies. I contact Jet who promptly gets another delivered under warranty. Fast forward yet again (this time 2 years), and the battery charger again dies. I contact Jet purely with a view to getting his opinion on what battery charger to get. Jet immediately contacts the importer and after much robust discussion (as he  tells it  ;D), they agree to replace my battery charger under warranty. So now I have a brand new replacement battery charger courtesy of Jet and RV Power Solutions.

Jet, it wasn't expected but is very much appreciated. For service above and beyond, you get my vote for whatever is you are running for  :D

Great service from Jet!

Any idea why you have had 3 failures in 3 years?

Thanks Mal, support me and I support you mate and as you have just learnt ..I can be very persuasive with my suppliers ...LOL  ;D ;D ;D

D4D,

This charger and a few others I have come across have stopped working after use in a caravan park plugged into the park power supply, now the issue is not just limited to Projecta other brands have also had the problem.. the difference is that Projecta have decided that they will try and improve the internals of the units to try and withstand these issues but they cant completely overcome  the issue as some van parks are on who knows what power wise, I,m no 240v expert so I cant refute this but I have had my personal sterling charger (big $$$ charger) go Pheeewww in a van park .Difference is some manufacturers count dirty power as your fault hence no warranty and Projecta back their re- sellers and customers. :cup:

Anyway if the charger comes through the correct supply chain then they support me and I in turn support my customers. so the $20-$30 price premium well and truly pays dividends IMHO, all MAL had to do was cut his plug off and check the mail box.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Interesting, I always use one of those 240V tester thingys before I plug stuff in at van parks, never found a problem yet. Maybe is a QLD thing :)

The first failure was a cheapy import battery charger which I had had for 3 or 4 years. Don't know why it failed. The other 2 were both Projecta's and I could certainly link the failures to bad power. I was at CP's on 240v power when they failed.

Hats off to Jet and Projecta for standing behind their product.

That tester thingy is good for testing polarity and earth leakage trip levels.... and would be an excellent thing to add to your kit...... but it won,'t tell you if you have supply issues like too much or too little or "dirty" voltage.

True, I use it more for safety e.g. making sure there is an earth

Thats pretty much what I was told by the tech guys, its not the fault of the unit or the user, and a bit like copping dirty fuel, but in this case with the right representations from your authorised re-seller you can get a better outcome on your $350 charger than your 80K car  ;D ;D ;D ;D

If this is a regular issue, is there any way to prevent it.  I presume it is not only chargers that cop it.

Alan,

I,m not sure but i,m sure a few of the 240v guys may have some ideas but from what i,m told it is very hard to protect against and not just chargers, obv some things are more susceptible than others.

I too will way in and concur with Mal's comments as ive had some dealings with Jet, and have nothing but good things to say about his advise and service.

Something which is hard to come by these days, particularly when your handing over your hard earned.

Well done Jet.
