I have had a few and they all failed miserably :-[
I still have my stanley which Liz gave me and its not bad and probably lasts a couple of hours at the best. I will have a look around for you.

We have 3 thermos brand and they're terrific. I can give you a fairly new wide mouth Stanley unit if you want, great for cold water, that was once hot:D

We have 2 new ones, they are useless only keep water warm for a couple of hours. I contacted Stanley and they said they would replace them if we sent them back with the receipt, only trouble was the receipt faded in no time so you couldn't read it, so we have 2 useless thermos. We brought a Primus one from Bunnings and it is great keeps water hot all day and is still warm next morning.

i bought a 3ltr one from rays and it works really well. put boiling water in it and it is still hot 10hrs later. and because you push a plunger not open a lid it doesnt seem to loose the heat as quick as others ive used.

thermoses do fail. its the vacuum between the two layers that creates the insulation. once this vacuum is gone they no longer work.

I bought a 2 litre one from the reject shop for $15.00 and so far works a treat, keeps water hot all day.
I once bought a known brand and the salesman said it would keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold but when I put my coffee and an ice cream in there the whole lot went warm... ;D ;D
There is always someone doing it tougher than you...

We have the glossy navy coloured Thermos travel mugs and I have just bought the 2l thermos based on how well the mugs perform.

I have had a steaming hot cup of tea 6 hours after I made it (with the preheat) in the travel mugs.

If anything they perform too well in the first couple of hours, good for the first cuppa stop on a trip though.

nay-dmax - yeah its there wild country brand. it is a bit bulky but it was pretty cheap and works well. Not sure its the sort of thing that would last 20 years like the "thermos" branded ones but it was cheap enough to try at the time.

Hi
The best thermos I have is a cheap Target one with a glass thermos un screw the bottom and fill the space between
glass and plastic with expander foam then quickly screw the bottom back on. Then you have the best thermos made
Glass keeps heat better and the foam helps and protect great for 4wding. Had a couple of tries at this first one broke
glass  >:(

I filled our new 2l thermos yesterday at 10am.  I just emptied it now (was a test run).

The water I tipped out was 70 degrees celsius.

I know they are pretty $$$$$$$...this one was rrp $75, but I got it 30% off at the Myer sale last week.

I think it is the same series as jonesy's lunch one above.

Just don't get a tupper**** one because they are crap. Went fishing this morning with my thermos of hot coffee. Went for a drink less than 2 hours after making it and was barely warm. Thanks for the reminder. It is now in the bin.

Fishing was awesome by the way.

I got an old **** knows brand, but bout 15yrs old... still keeps the hotdogs hot at the end of the day...

I find it works better to fill with boiling water to 'heat' it, empty it after 10 mins, and refill with fresh boiling water, and dogs..

I just bought a 1.2l ''thermos'' brand last week from big w for $40. I tested it and it kept water hot enough for coffee overnight.
