Clear braided water hose being used as a gas line??
« on: May 20, 2015, 12:17:55 PM »
Last weekend the family dragged me to the Riverside markets in Brisbane and while walking around I noticed a fairy floss stand. Seeing I was bored I was checking out the set up and how they make it when I noticed the gas line from the 9kg gas bottle to the gas cooker was clear braded water hose (Same type of hose which connects my water tank to the tap on my camper.

On top on the gas bottle was some form of adaptor (Same as a helium balloon bottle where you side the balloon up until it’s tight fit) where the hose  was pushed tight with no clamps.

I’m no expert, but I can’t see how this is safe let alone legal.

Do these type of stalls undergo any safety checks?

Dunno about safety checks but these operators are extremely stupid or naive. Could you imagine if something happened  ??? They would be gaaaaaaaaawn let alone the lives in danger.

I've seen some pretty dodgey looking setups around markets myself.
Not all by any means but some of the food vans wouldn't pass a roadworthy let alone anything else

There is high pressure clear braided hose suitable for gases and compressed air available and it might of had a small crimp fitting on it?  Common to see this type of hose on Mig welders.  Not sure if it's suitable for LPG though?

Big difference between flammable / no flammable gasses in a hose.

Just report the markets to the local council and have them send the health & safety inspector down.
