For those who have up/crossgraded, did it take you long to sell your soft floor? What was the most effective means? Did you have to drop your price to compete with the new Chinese knockoffs? How long did it take?

Still got ours after 2 years although we haven't tried super hard to sell it. It's got quite a few extras so I'm not too keen on lowering the price although I'm starting to think that it's worth nothing sitting where it is! We're lucky we have the room for it & the Goldie.

I sold my camper trailer within 5 days via Gumtree.
It was a custom built heavy duty trailer with$10k on it.

Sold ours in about 3 weeks on Gumtree.

It was stored inside my factory unit at work which is about 20 mins drive from home.
Had a number of phonecalls & several appointments to meet at my workplace on weekends for inspection purposes, but they gave me the run-around & didn't show up.
Complete waste of my time & very frustrating!

After a few weekends of waiting for nobody to show up, I decided not to go out of my way any more.
If someone wanted to view it, it had to be 100% convenient for ME!

Needless to say, the first person who actually came out to see it in person bought it on the spot, didn't even attempt to haggle.

If it is in good condition and the selling price is around 60% of the replacement cost, yes, then it is reasonable.  But that is just my opinion

We sold a Modcon rear fold last year that was in excellent condition. It took about 4 months to sell, and I recieved many back and forth enquiries with stupid questions that were either answered in the add, or could have been answered in a 2 minute phone call. Ended up selling through "caravan sales" to the first people who actually rang up and came and looked at it. From experience most email and text enquiries are just time wasters. If you've got something in good condition with a fair price your better off sticking with it and wait for the right buyer to call.

Took about 2 weeks to sell our Cape York soft floor.
We put $500 on top of what we wanted.
Sold it to the first person to look at.
Got exactly what we wanted for it and new owner was happy to think he knocked us down $500.
Had it listed on Gumtree and in the local news paper, I dont know how many calls we got from Gumtree veiws but only received 1 call from someone having seen it in the paper. Everyone that called wanted to knock the price down sight unseen and if we agreed they would then come look at it.
I just hung up on them, I have no paitence for time wasters.
The man who bought it heard about it from a mutal friend, he spent 5 minutes asking questions, then watched us pack it up and that was it.

Haven't sold a camper on gum tree but sold a few motorbikes and there is a lot of tyre kickers and time wasters who must think you are desperate to sell with their offers eg 50% of the asking price and a few people wanted to swap junk for them but they sold after a few weeks just don't go out of you way to let them see it if they want to stops a lot of the time wasters

Sold a 2006 Customline full off-road in a week on gumtree last Nov. $5500.   Saw a few competing listings very overpriced/unrealistic. If the price is right for age and condition I think once you get someone to come have a genuine look they generally take it on the spot.

I sold a homemade camper last year. 4 weeks on Gumtree. First person to see took it. Had 3 other inquiries about it.  Advertised for $5900, sold for $5000. The roof top tent was a bit beat up, so thats where the haggling went. Pretty happy as i paid $4500 6 years ago (spent about $1500 on up grades and maintenance). The trick is sorting through the time wasters and getting someone genuine to look at it.

Caravan sales is the same as car sales, is it worth advertising there?

290 views on gumtree no calls yet, maybe my price is a bit high. I'd like to move it to feel a bit better about our Reconn purchase!

Yeah we sold our CC soft floor for much more than $25k, it moly took us a couple of weeks.
First person that looked at it bought it, and I could of sold it another 3 time that week.

Price looks ok, maybe some more / better pictures would help. Show the set up inside and out, show the trailer all neatly packed (not with all your stuff piled on it ). May need to set it up and take some shots just to show it off.

It only took us a couple of weeks to sell our old Lifestyle on caravansales.com.au  First to come and see it bought it.

It was a 20 month old camper which we had used for 60+ nights and we sold it for basically the same price as we bought it. The good quality, well looked after soft floors hold their value!

While the 3 photo are nice and I’m no expert, I agree with the previous comment about some more ‘uncluttered’ photo’s.

Maybe take it to a nice park with green grass and take photo’s inside and out to make your camper stand out from the others in the same price bracket. This way potential buyers also know your keen and not testing the waters with whatever photo’s you had lying around.

Spend an hour unloading... then take it down the park on Saturday, spend an hour taking photos of various points of setup etc...
