Old canvass not waterproof - what can we do?

Hi everyone.

I'm sure this is an age old question. Did a search and surprisingly couldn't find much on the forum. My apologies for what I'm sure is a re-hash of old ground...

Anyway, we have discovered that our canvass that is about 12 yrs old is not as waterproof as we'd like it to be. It's a 2nd hand camper and we have no idea how the previous owners treated it.

We've had it out in a couple of very wet conditions recently and it's leaked straight through the roof. Not through seams, and not even where water might have pooled. Just soaked straight through :(

Anyway, I'm wondering what the best option is to re-treat the canvass. Any suggestion?

Plusnq, it didn't redirect to anything for me...

So BradProof is the tool of choice? Any idea where I might get some in WA/Perth by any chance?  :cheers:

Definitely bradmills waterproofing goop!
I used it on my last soft floor, and whilst it smells and looks like overpriced pva glue, it worked great and didn't leave the canvas stiff and hard to close.
Just as a hint, buy twice the amount you think you will need,  as well as a broom and paint brush.
I found I splattered just as much on the ground as I did the canvas and in spots where my canvas was very soft it soaked in quite a lot more than I thought it would.

might have to look into this stuff - I used bondall multi-surface waterproofer on our camper, its clear and comparatively thin so maybe only good for new canvas

Wax convertors will sell you a tin of the good stuff , you'll need 4 l approx ($64 in total ) .do it on a warm day , pre-warm the tin in hot water , wait for it to go clear - if it goes opaque warm it up again !
Broom it on , brush it on let it dry , then wet down with clean water , let it dry ...

Ok so I contacted someone over here in WA about Bradproof and they suggested that Brella Guard might be better for a camper trailer... And reading the website below it sounds awesome! Bionic and nano technology... Star shaped polymers...

I also found this product better than the pvc glue type. You will also need to get good quality seam sealer cost about $20 a small tube, you may need a couple.

I recently used Aquaproof (from BCF), same as the other PVC looking stuff. Not sure if it works yet but it took some elbow grease to get it on smoothly!

Definitely redirecting on my iPad and iPhone. Takes to X rated video sites after about six redirects. Doesn't redirect on the computer though.

have used brellaproof and aquaproof too, both are ok but you can see where its been applied and all the overruns and underruns - that's the only downside when compared to the bondall which is clear

I used the brad proof stuff and applied it with a sponge on a mop and it went on well. I thought it odd that they recommend a diluted white king before treatment. I thought white king ate canvas.
I like the look of the never wet stuff would need a dozen cans for a camper though I wonder how long it lasts.
