Keeping ants OUT of CT parked in backyard
« on: April 30, 2015, 07:58:56 AM »
Hi Guys

Finally decided to keep our CT Tent (after cleaning up OKish). I really dont want to keep it in the garage. How do people stop insects etc from getting into the CT if parked on the grass?

Cheers
My plan is to live forever......so far, so good!

I have a similar trouble with the camper I'm building, All I can come up with is the little mongrels are climbing the wheels and jockey wheel..
So I'm looking at a dish with a center platform as a  rain cap [ wider than base ]  that that the wheels will sit on top off .. the bottom ground plate dish will have oil in it about 5mm deep ..
Think of two stainless / plastic / tin plates [ sitting on a larger concrete paver pad, keeps the grass away from around the wheels ] one right way up and another larger one upside down spaced 20mm or so apart, with the three wheels sitting on top of them ..
Ants try to climb over the bottom plates and get trapped in the oil / rain shouldnt be a problem as the bigger top cap should sheild the bottm plate ..  Onl down side is jacking the trailer slightly to pull the plates out when you want to move it ..  cheers:

I had a problem when we moved into our new place, i purchased some of these ant rid baits and they have worked so far in the trailer and the house.

I have put around 4 in the indide of the trailer where they deemed to be walking past and around the slide out kitchen

Go elders & get some ag based termiticide, make it a bit weaker and spray everywhere around where camper is parked.  Do it a couple of times & spray wherever you see them tracking from.

I've used ant rid from the big green shed, many times and it works.
I used it on a couple of huge nests down at our property and within a week all ants gone.

Cheap, plain and simple.

We use those ant rid baits too, they work great around the house ... got rid of a lot of the little mongrels but not all, so Ive noticed the other day, bunged in a fresh lot of baits to go with the others [ only been a month inplace  ] in the camper trailer ..
