Lurker turned CT owner
« on: April 20, 2015, 06:00:20 PM »
Hi All,

Been lurking for a while and on the weekend finally plunged into a Leisure Matters CT.

Nice to meet you all.. I've got three kids so looking for something we can just hookup and go for the weekend without having to spend a few hours packing the car. Plus has to be easier to setup than my basic tent.

Was originally going to go for the Traveller Deluxe but ended up going for the Trooper Deluxe due to the extra storage compartments - otherwise they are the same.

Very excited. Can't wait to pick it up!!!!!!!!

Not sure when I'm picking it up but when I do I'll post some pics.

In the meantime I can dream of all the mods to make.. I want to add lights first :-)

After a bit of a wait I've finally picked it up and spent most of today seasoning the canvas.

Wow.. Much more work than I originally thought but am getting better at it real quick.

Here is a photo. Still have the second annex to put up (probably only use for those really long stays).

Does anyone know if you can leave the child room roof and the annex roof attached (just folded over on top of main tent) when packing away?

you tell us!!! as long as you can get the cover over it and there aren't any internal poles caught up that could tear the fabric (almost did that once, left some poles assembled in our unit) I for one shouldn't think there would be any problems - as with all tent products (and not just canvas, just as long as it doesn't go away wet

Nope. Since I added the 6cm mattress topper (egg shell style) all I can get in is the annex roof.

Although I have managed to squeeze the child room on top of the pile.

aaah yes, the old mattress topper - good investment - the cost of that plus the custom-made mattress set us back as much as a mid-range bed mattress would have cost in the end but its all for the better

enjoy!

Finally managed to work out how to leave both the child room and annex roof attached to the main tent and still close it all up!!!!

Since I last posted have finally finished all my mods:
- replaced all wiring to twin 12v sockets on tailgate, water pump, and led light strips in box section, toolbox and kitchen with 6mm marine twin core.
- added additional two 12v sockets on tailgate (opposite side of factory fitted outlets) and two double 12v on bed base under mattress (both ends).
- installed external 240v 15amp inlet socket, RCD, 1 internal 240v PowerPoint in battery box (for charger) and double 240v sockets in kitchen next to sink.
- installed main battery isolator switch, 6 way fuse box and Ctek 25amp charger.

I have put Andersen plugs on the charger (came in last weekend when I could easily disconnect and use to charge flat car battery) and on a folding 120w solar panel - to use the Anderson cable for either the car when driving or the panel when camping.

My only two remaining items are an inverter and adding an additional 100ah battery. Although not sure if I really need to as I mostly go where I can get 240v.
The wife likes her coffee machine (aldi pod style) with milk frother and the kettle/sandwich press/toaster too much.
I also use a small mini projector, WD TV and a 1tb hard drive to have movie night while camping :-)

Welcome to the forum mate,if your not on 240v then you may need more battery for all those appliances. What about fridges? Solar?

Cheers,
