Got bored last night so took them out of storage. Would be atleast 5 years since last use and both fired up with the fuel that was still in them.

The only thing I would suggest for travelling or storage is let the pressure out of the tank.

Hasn't been used for ages, all I did was wipe the dust and cobwebs off, gave it some fuel, followed the lighting instructions and away it went :cup:

Just as well I did as it looks like the o-ring has perished in the fuel valve as it is leaking a bit under pressure. Just as well I can get parts and it is not a throw away item :)

Try tightening it up a little. Mine did the same and all good now.

I only used to run shellite (cheaper) but no one around home seems to sell it anymore.
So I ended up using the Coleman fuel. Was more for the lantern as it gave it a much brighter light.

Thanks Guey, what am I tightening up? I may have had too much pressure in the tank.

Swannie, I run Coleman fuel. I've had the tin of fuel as long as I have had the stove, 15+ years. The tin is almost empty.

I think the burners are a different power output.

The two with the red arrows. Just nip them up slightly.
Their is a seal inside where I marked the yellow arrow but you should get extra tightening out of it.

Have a good look and make sure it isn't seeping down. Very unusal spot for them to leak.

If you undo the front nut,

You will see the seal inside. It is like a long graphite seal.
Once this is off you can undo and slide the needle out. You need to unscrew it by turning it to the left ( like turning it on ).

Close up of the needle base. This also has a brass washer on it.

Front pic of where the needle seats. This is where part of the seal gets gummed up.

Clean it up, reassemble nipping it up tight and bob should be your sister with no more leaks :)

Note: when you put the front sealing nut back on and tighten, have the on/off knob half to three quarters open as the sealing nut will want to tighten the needle as it goes.

Thanks again GUEY. I tightened everything up again when it was cold and that seems to have done the trick. I'll try it again tomorrow.

Hey Geoff, plenty of room in Frankie :). But you make a good point re the fuel and storage/traveling with it for the blokes that have one do you drain it before traveling?
Swannie

Nope  -- I actually fill the tank of the cooker before I travel  ;D  I actually use the tank of the cooker for the fuel storage  -- lasted all Easter  -- Still quite full, maybe I didn't cook enough.

The 3 burner is 720mm oa.
From left side to centre of left burner is 120mm. Then 235mm centre to centre of the other burners.
Not sure if you can still buy them anymore.

I haven't had a problem with leaking fuel whilst travelling. Upright, sideways, end on - no worries. I did have a similar problem to Jamie with leakage under pressure - Rays etc have a heap of spare parts and it was fixed up in no time. Great in the Alpine environs when those 'dangerous' cookers become safe....as they won't light/go...  ;D

I don't use unleaded unless I have to - just run shellite with a cap full of metho mixed in as an anti water agent.

Could be a state thing? I can get Coleman fuel from the camping stores but can't seem to find shellite anymore.
Tentworld is showing as unavailable on their website now, but they had it on the shelf today.
