Complete campsite nomad questions
« on: April 15, 2015, 09:49:25 PM »
Hi guys,

We are looking at getting a 2nd hand camper, and are going to target Trackabout, Complete campsite as would prefer a solid camper that we can modify (circa$10k). I saw a CC Nomad Adventurer 2007 for a reasonable price, but just have some reservations.

The draw bar looks a little on the thin side in comparison to newer campers - is this because the earlier Nomads were only considered semi-offroad?
It also come with mechanical override brakes - which again suggests to me that it was not a serious offroader. I would prefer electric brakes. Does anyone know how easy these might be to change - is it simply a case of buying a kit from ebay? Is there welding required? And would this be a costly change?
And in the pics it also looked a little short on clearance in comparison to CC's newer models.

I presume the battery compartment is in the door opposite the walkup access? Can you get 2 batteries in there?
It only has a 60 ltr tank - i guess it would be possible to fit an internal tank in the trailer tub at the end further from the kitchen pull out?

Preferred the Nomad over the Trackabouts as it had a walkup/thru rather than a ladder, though i realise the Trackabouts come with electric brakes.

thanks for your help

surprised nobody has answered you on this one - I cant speak for the campers you are considering but as for the brakes check if theyre disc or drum as they have different mounting plates otherwise have a look at a place like big man trailer parts for one otherwise just search on trailer brakes on ebay for the electric kits the same size as the ones on the camper. with drums I understand you need to upgrade to the alko magnets as other lesser brands fail and even fall out of the mountings
