rear end sag

Just got 2" Old Man Emu Suspension kit installed on 200 series and when fully loaded with camping gear fuel etc as well as the jayco hawk hitched on i get some obvious sag which I don't want at all approx 1"
Would getting the toyota off road hitch fix this or do I need stiffer springs
Don't really want airbags

how many kg springs have you got in. I hade to go 600 kg springs for the rear and and find it was enough with the duel wheel carrier and 180 ltr sub tank the lift was 50mm in the rear  you could try a heavy spring in the rear like a 400kg spring and c how you go.

Does the heavier spring affect handling much without anything in tow, what about the front would they need to be changed as well

I do fing the heavier rear springs a little stiff but I just keep the rear fuel tank full. I did have to fit air bags as I found the front tires spinning with the van hooked up when you heavy exelerated I only run 15psi in the bags and find that suits the weight of the cruiser and van and run 10psi with no van with no problems.

Sorry not the best picture the cruiser with 15psi in the bags and around 200kg tow ball weight.

The question is 'does it really matter'?

Springs are designed to compress when loaded and thats what they are doing.  If they didnt they would be too hard when the CT is not attached.

If the handling is fine I would suggest living with it a bit and see how it goes.  If your not happy after a while you could fit air bags or if you are able to you could fit a weight distribution hitch.

Transferring weight to the front wheels is preferable to just pumping the rear back up to level, particularly for traction.  I always thought the WDH caravaners were full of it with WDH but having used them of late I am a convert.  Maybe give vehicle components a ring.

SHMBO is having a bit of rear end sag, I wonder if air bags would help.  :angel:

I have a 200 series with OME 2" lift and 200 kg rear springs. Still went the airbag option as the kimberley is heavy on the rear of the cruiser. With 30 psi the ride is great and it all sits perfect. Then if the cruiser is by itself I let the bags down and it rides great. Not to harsh.

Personally I would go the airbags but once again it's personnel choice.

I have the same as Bully..I have found that I need to upgrade my shocks on rear to reduce the amount of bounce created by the airbags. Thinking of going adjustables so I can wind them down for when the Cruiser is empty.

I haven't put a lift kit in the 200 series (yet), but when I had the OME suspension (2" lift) put in the previous Prado, we had the option of 'variable load' rear coils. Up to 400kg (I think) - worked a treat. The Prado had a rear drawer system and with 40ltr engle and whatever else was in the rear when we were travelling towing the van (16' full offroad Supreme Getaway 190 kg ball weight) there was no sag at all. Unloaded the ride was quite comfortable and not rough. Didn't need a WDH for towing.

 OME constant 400kg rated rear should fix the problem.

My set up is just under 2" at the front with a 2" at the rear with the above OME suspension Springs and Nitro shocks . Sits perfect and rides wonderful when fully loaded with or without our outback finch.
Can be a stiffer/rougher ride unload with the above rated suspension eg; speed humps, potholes, corrugations, other than that its fine.

Same as rally dog, we have the 600kg springs and with the rear bar and long range tank it was just enough.
When the kamper was hooked up (280kgs) ball weight we needed airbags to level us out.
We have had to run the bags at quiet a high pressure on our trip as we are very heavy to keep it all level.

Well i found out that I have the medium spring size which is correct for my set up. I have no draws, fridge, rear bar permanently fixed
If I want to run level seems air bags are the only option
I have been quoted on the 'poly air' air bags which i am happy to go with as long as they do the job i need ie raise 3-4cm
As this is  new to me i would love any feedback

Never expect airbags of any kind to "raise" your height, they will just assist in carrying the load.
