Is this a good price for used Waeco?
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:35:01 PM »
Hi All,

In at my local Cash Converters, they have a Waeco CFX35 for $495 - only thing is that the lid hinges are broken, otherwise it looks in good nick. Is that a good price, even factoring in new hinges?

Generaly I've found the odd time ive popped into crapconverters that the majority of thier stock is way over priced compared to new and just a joke to 2nd hand with the odd exception.
Paslode Nail guns for instance are good value but not much else is.i havnt seen a fridge cheap enough that I'd buy there yet and I'm not realy a fan of thier business model so for the most part I'd rather not deal with them

I thing there are better options than Waco. A number of people with them have had problems. Our Cf60 has been a pain.
My alternative to cheap import trailers;

It's not that great of a price IMHO. You can get them new for $849 from some camping stores (BCF is ridiculously overpriced on fridges). Where i work we now only sell Engel's due to having too many returns on the Waeco's.

I have seen Waeco CFX 35's at Snowys for $790, then taken their ad and gone to Anaconda and got my 10% off that, and often the deal is with the insulation bag thrown in.

Snowy's had them at their price a cuople of weeks ago at their Easter sale, and probably will again at the end of June for the Financial Year Sale.

You can get a brand new 38ltr Engel Eclipse for $699... Why would you pay more for an equivalent size Waeco ???

Engel proven reliability swing motor, Engel low power consumption, tough light plastic case.

How do those eclipse latches hold up?
They look a bit breaky to me.
I'm still tempted to pay the extra for the more traditional engel 40
