and in the first two tests, that would make sense, given the wicket and conditions....
but with this wicket being harder under foot (more bounce) and having more grass (ball movement off the pitch and in the air), along with overcast skies forecast for much of the first day and cooler temps being forecast (very conducive to swing bowling), why not bowl first?
especially since the aussies have a glaring weakness against a ball that's moving around... which was shown up in the worst way in their first innings...
but, it makes for an interesting test match if the aussie bowlers get their finger out...
