theft of Patrols in Brisbane
« on: March 30, 2015, 01:41:03 PM »
I thought this was important enough to start a specific thread rather than put in the news thread.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/moreton/north-brisbane-police-launch-investigation-after-a-string-of-thefts-of-nissan-patrols/story-fni9r1i7-1227281593898

POLICE have launched an investigation into the thefts of Nissan Patrol four-wheel-drives in North Brisbane suburbs.

Petrie Criminal Investigation Branch say 13 Patrols were taken between July and November last year alone.

The cars continue to be stolen in the region with thieves targeting models ranging from the 1990s through to near new. Most have not been sighted since.

“Suburbs where the vehicles have been taken include Brendale, Bray Park, Petrie, Lawnton and Strathpine,” said Senior Constable Belinda Steward of the Pine Rivers Criminal Investigation Branch.

“Investigations are continuing and police encourage any person having knowledge of these matters to contact the Petrie Police Station, or alternatively, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

That's a bit harsh....
Maybe once they have pinched enough Patrols for themselves and their mates. They might start on the Dmax..... something for their wives and daughters.

So according to the article, the patrols are probably being sent overseas, that would explain why most have not been seen since  :'(.

Toyota"s are very cheap overseas, it must be worth anything to the thieves to pinch a Toyota and on sell them.

it's been on one flatbed in the time I've owned it, and that was just a holed radiator. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is due to it now being 13 years old, and it's showing it's age due to the trips it's done in that time. Biggest problem now is I am struggling to choose a replacement, as I don't  want to pay the Toyota tax, and reckon the others won't be as comfortable or as reliable  ;)

My mates gq (not modded and was the top spec one in great condition) was stolen from a secure underground car park at their unit complex at nundah prolly around 2005, it was found a few weeks later stripped and burnt out near the nudgee service centre in the swamp land, just about everything was gone, professional job? Nah don't think so

Pretty easy to rebirth a older car......don't need too much grey matter, just a clean vin, grinder and a welder!

Cheers
2010 TTD Landcruiser, i have added stuff but can't remember what! Slowly gettin quicker at setting up the brumby but breaking camp is another matter....
