Hi fellow Swaggers,

New member, just signed up a couple of days ago and still trying to feel my way around this site.

So, we have just upgraded from a tent into a brand new "Lifestyle Extenda Southern Cross" CT. We had our first trip away last weekend and couldn't be happier with our choice of trailer. I did a fair bit of homework and for the money we were willing to spend, Lifestyle seemed value for money.

The next thing we need to upgrade is our BBQ. I would love to hear some feedback on the BBQ's everyone's using at the moment. Obviously Weber has some pretty good marketing and seem to saturate the market, but I am interested in hearing straight from "the horses mouth".

The other BBQ that I can see could be of value is the Everdue "E2Go".

Some of the features I think are important are:

Good quality
Reliable
In built thermometer
Split grill capability. Half hot plate, half grill

Any other feedback on features I should be looking for would be appreciated.

I like the idea of the Evendure brand having a square lid too, I think that is more practical to fit more in the oven and cook food evenly.

I use a beefeater bugg, been a great bbq and has all options you are looking for

I don't leave home without my Weber baby Q (will cook enough for 4), very versatile, you can grill or roast. Accessories a bit expensive, but I made my own hotplate. I prefer an all grill bbq and have a hot plate to throw on as needed.
Agree with you about the square lid though, gives you largest cooking area.
Being able to roast in your BBQ is a must for me. Nothing like a rib roast and a bottle of red at night under the stars, even with a total fire ban.
Have an extra gas bayonet fitted to your camper so you don't have to carry an extra gas bottle for your bbq .

Same here its a great BBQ.  Unfortunately its a bit too big to fit inside the doorway of the Jayco so seriously considering a Ziggy Portable.  It has a great trivet system that you can use the flame of the BBQ to cook in a saucepan / wok

Love our baby q,  have the split grill/hotplate, trivet for roast, and pizza stone... I've done cakes in it,  pizza,  roasts,  pies... Very versatile :-)

Webber Baby Q.  Cooks the best steaks and chops.  We do pizza, roasts, cakes, scones.  All yummy.  And it uses very little gas.

Weber baby q1200au has all the features you find important and also electronic ignition. Cooks beautifully and packs up nice and small for transportation.

Money we'll spent IMO.

Anyone got the new aldie version of portable bbq? I saw them last night, not cheap but cheaper than webbers including a stand. I wish one was open so I could see if it had the gaps between lid and base which in my understanding is why baby q's cook so well.

baby Q 1200, higher lid and temp gauge, had it since Chrissy and we are very happy with the (tiny) thing.

It seems a no brainer really. I haven't found a bad word about the Weber Q in any reviews.

Think I will stick to what seems to work for 99% of the camping population. I will be going out to get the Q1200au I reckon.

Get your angle grinder out and take a few mm off opposite sides.  Pre-made pizza bases will still fit.  A smaller stone won't hold a full sized base.  Works for us.

Just make sure you read the book that comes with it.  And buy a trivet, you will need it to cook a lot of things.  Don't necessarily need the Weber one, although it is good quality.

I use a gasmate bbq and love it cheaper than a webber as well , got put of the webers as I have had a family q for a few years now and the plates are all rusted got a new one and rusted again within 6 months

We are another Baby Q tragic
We bought the replacement high lid for our Baby Q and could not be happier
I have never eaten this well whilst camping
My wife has become a Weber face book fanatic but it is worth a look just for the great ideas you will pick up
Still haven't mastered the leave the lid untouched cooking as I'm old school BBQ person beer in one hand and tongs in the other and time the steaks by how many stubbies you drink
Anyway have fun with the baby Q

Where are you planning on storing it? it takes up a fair bit of room, we have a drifta DPOR and need to remove the lid for transport.

We have the special with higher lid.

We use the BabyQ on most outings, its good, but I dont love it.

Its not the best for our family of 5, the sloping lid really hinders being able to cook enough food. Also with our setup its too high when I put it on the kitchen bench and annoying putting it on the ground. I dont want to put it on the table because the kids use it and I dont want to pack a special table just for the Q because its just more stuff.

A friend had an Aldi one (slightly different than picture) - they now have a baby weber.
