Missus has been stuck outbound on the Ring Rd between Edgars Rd and Plenty Rd for 3 hours. For those of you who don't know the road, it is usually 4 lanes plus an emergency lane wide, a little bit of water about.

Over here, we had 65.5mm today up to about 7:30pm.
Went into Bendigo this afternoon, had a huge downpour in the Axedale area, but in Bendigo looked like they had minimal rain.

Happy days! As we have 2 dams on our place, and both are now full to overflowing (as are the tanks on the house), should mean (hopefully) that we will have adequate water for the gardens and the fruit trees through the summer.

Get the self Propelled job and there'll be a fight to use it.
Usually it's washing the car that causes rain.
Well done.

Noice work! you got aminals etc, or just a hobby farm kinda place?

No animals, our block is only 6 acres, so we have only veggie gardens, fruit trees (apples, peaches, cherries, oranges, lemons, apricots and (eventually) figs and olives. Around the house is flower gardens.

Not having reliable water is a bit problematic with animals. Buying in water is expensive, not so much for the water ($2.80/1000lts last year) but the cartage. It comes from the mains stand pipe in town.

The neighbours on one side run 2 horses and on the other side a small flock of sheep, but they are regularly buying in water during summer at about $300/13000lts delivered.

We considered putting in a bore, but their is no guarantee of usable water, in this area the bore water can be 300 - 13,000ppm salt. (not necessarily NaCl, but other salts, mostly sulfurs). Risking a minimum of $5K to find out is out of the question if you cannot use the water.

I'm no meteorologist, but looking at the wind/rain/pressure pattern on these, it looks like the storm cell in SA is splitting up and heading south. May not hit Vic at all.....

how funny in hindsight I'm no meteorologist

Batten down the hatches: parts of Victoria are bracing for heavy rainfall and large hailstones expected to hit on Thursday morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning just after 8am, saying the extreme weather conditions should affect Victoria's north-west and towns north-west of Melbourne in the next few hours.
