It started out fun
« on: February 08, 2015, 03:08:53 PM »
My young bloke and 2 of his mates invited me to go on a bike ride yesterday, we going over Hotham to Omeo, then up to falls creek and home via tawonga gap.......400km of twisty roads and good fun :)

Unfortunately just out of Omeo super son had an ooops, back wheel stepped out on some rough bitumen and then bit in, stood the bike up and he ran off into the drain.

He wound up going over the bars. I was a bit in front and missed the lot.....turned back after a few minutes and found him and his mate on the roadside having a lay down.   ???

Thankfully he is largely OK, has a small fracture in his ankle, but otherwise undamaged. Kevlar jeans did the job, as did the cordura jacket. Zero skin lost.

So my saturday was Wang to Omeo on the bike, Omeo to Ovens on Bike. Wife arrived in the pootrol and it was then Ovens to Bairnsdale by car, Bairnsdale to Wang by car, got to bed at 0415 this morning........what a day. On the upside I saw 4 deer on the drive home, and flattened several bunnies and a wallaby so have plenty fresh meat  ;D

Highway Patrol copper from Bairnsdale was awesome, turns out he rides himself, and after examining the signs of the collision accepted there was no stupidity involved and the accident occured as described - no penalty notice for Jordy.

And if anyone knows of a set of fairings and a tank to fit a 2011 Kwakka Ninja 250 let me know pls :)

Glad he's okay. As a fellow rider, I can feel his pain. Got of pretty lightly by the sounds of it.
Cheers, Mike.

Plus one for all the right gear at the right time  :cup: , last time I had a "forced dismount" I would have lost a lot of skin if it wasn't for the full gear !

Glad he's ok !!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad he's ok, gotta love that green whistle. Another good example of riding with the correct gear on, not like the knob i saw 2hrs ago in a tee and shorts .

Hey mate, glad your son is OK.  Nothing like the thrill of riding a motorcycle and nothing like the pain of coming off.  Pass on our best wishes from myswag.

Glad to hear he came out the other side ok. As a Lycra rider who has come off at 70km not having any skin off is a major plus. All the best with the recovery and hope he's back on the bike asap.

I reckon Govt should make full cover mandatory on bikes and issue infringements, we all pay for their hospitalisation...Those beds could be used to treat our elderly not our young or stupid ...

$250 on the spot and use the traffic cameras to issue the infringements via the mail.. registered owner gets the bill and then declares who the rider was if not them.. but not many riders loan thier bikes for obv reasons.

Cost to public health would decrease.

Glad he's ok ... I was gunna say "what a sook on the whistle" ;D ;D ;D but then remembered a saying my old SGT had "there's a fine line between hard and retard gentleman" ;D ;D

Go the whistle

that bike up top would be close to a write off..

Loved the look on the face of a 1st day learner who was riding his GSXR750 today...

singlet, thongs, helmet, and gloves... always the gloves...
Anyway as I helped him pick his now stuffed bike (Fairing broken to bits, screen gone, footpeg mount cracked, rear section cracked and scratched etc) up as he dropped it going up the footpath at the shops, he said this was his first day on a bike... Perfect bike to learn on.. No insurance and probably close to a write off...

I said lucky it was walking pace that he dropped it in those highly protective clothes.. he sneered that it only happens to *mutter mutter* others and it too hot to wear any gear...

then Miss 10 said look at my dads leg you dumbo  :cup: :cup:.. that happened on a bike in riding gear...

the dude nearly spewed on the spot.. made my day!

I thought the biggest LAMS approved bike was a 650? Either way that's alot of bike for day 1.

Bike would be a write off if insured.......they are only a $4K bike at best. Will have a look at whats rooted when it gets home Thurs and work out what to do with it. Jordy is thinking go the street fighter look :)

Geez you blokes need a plate of cement.
Unless I'm riding for more than 2 hrs i never wear a jacket. But then again the temperature up here is mostly 15deg hotter & with 40% more humidity.
Besides at the speed i like to ride there's no return from a fall ????

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.
