The show that did surprise me a few years back was "Towies" with Clayton's Towing.
Pretty well done.
They are still showing it. Not sure what channel but I came across it a week or so ago. The episode I saw was a plane had crashed in some guys backyard and Clayton's were called in to get it out

I wonder if desert collectors is done that way so that it seems like they are "the bloke next door"?
it could only be that, or some bloke started it as home movies.

I am just wondering how we are supposed to address people when we talk to them today?

Sir? - nope - Gender defining
Maam? - nope Gender defining
Excuse me? No - apologetic for no reason
Hey you? - nope I could me inanimate or offended by a label
ahum? - No - too impersonal
Oi - No - colloquial and non inclusive
Hey kid? - no - ageist and possibly threating in a demeaning manner
Buddy? - Nope - Offensive to people who don't have lot of friends
Pal? - na ah - too personal an invasion of my space
Non gender specific, non binary humanoid? - No - offensive to aliens

No bloody wonder everyone just texts these days.

Read a report on a worker on the set for Celine Dion that was electrocuted while up in the rigging.

But he survived ???  How can that happen ??

depending on which dictionary definition you use, electrocute can mean death or injury.

Never seen a reference to being "alive" after being electrocuted ?  That's what an electric shock is.

You just read one...

more and more commonplace now...

Most dictionary definitions have changed to include injury as well as death...

I was more pointing out that they used the wrong word when they reported it.
A quick google will "mostly" find you die from electrocution. Other references to injury, but not death are technically incorrect, but hey, in this day and age, anything goes ??   8) 8)

if the definition in various dictionaries now include injury as well as death, it isn't incorrect...

technically or not...

either way, the bloke survived and they used the term correctly as it stands today

So... who has tried Guinea Pig Icecream ??? ???

Food’s a funny thing. Personally I’d consider guinea pig ice cream no worse than oysters or lambs fry!

I agree, to a degree  ;D . Etymologically it is incorrect to use the term "electrocution" unless the person was executed by means of electricity. But because language is dynamic, and changes with common usage, there is no wrong use, really, if the term has become common usage, in that form.

fully sick eh?

Question for all the ex-military blokes out there ...

There are letter codes to designate which country military gear, usually weapon's, originated from eg F is Oz so you have the F1 & F88; L is British for the L1A1 SLR; M is the Yanks - M16, M72 & 1000 others!

What are those codes actually called ???

Young bloke is in one of his games & just asked where a "R" rifle would come from, & that would appear to be South Africa as they have a R6 & so on.

Any thoughts ???

In the mid 80's, I was the go-to bloke in the south of England if you needed three hole latrine seats or a 1000 sets of cutlery for your regimental garden party. Can't speak for other countries but in the UK they are called "L Numbers" ;D (or "N Numbers" for the navy). L is for "Land"

Edit: Just done a bit of a Google and it seems M stands for "Model" and F for "Forces".
