Roughing it at Rainbow Beach Qld
« on: February 03, 2015, 07:42:22 PM »
Roughing it on last Saturday and Sunday night camping at Rainbow Beach, Qld.  But the weather was brilliant and the tides perfect for beach driving. The sand was so easy to drive on.  We drove down to Noosaville for lunch, came back to our camp for a nice afternoon swim, then to a restaurant for dinner.  Yes, perfect few days for my wife’s birthday.  But boy was there some traffic on the beach and what a brilliant stretch for camping.  We will have to take our camper next time.  Oh did I say we were roughing it? Well maybe not that rough.  Penthouse was just fantastic....  ;D  Kevin

Not a bad view of Inskip and Fraser Island.

Best place in the world ;D

With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

We did go past Jeepers area, just to do lunch at Tin Can Bay Marina Restaurant.  That was nice too.      Kevin

Nah, we were too expensive.

Which day were you at the marina?
We took the boat up the strait on Saturday..... could have easily had two more on board. I would've even worn clothes.

On the way home on Monday.    I would've even worn clothes.  Boy how could we have not taken that invitation up.  But I think I had to put bamboo up my fingernails that day!   ::)   Kevin

Yeah its already dropping off though. As this system moves south so does the swell direction it goes past the points. The open beaches are a mess.

New system forming though so hopefully another round soon and its a good start to hopefully what is an eventful cyclone system.
I know its bad to hope for cyclones / bif low pressure systems because of the damage that they can create, but the ones that don't come to close to shore or cross over can be pure gold for surfers.

I love seeing the maps when the lows just start lining up and travelling down the qld coast.

Should pick up a little tonight and be quite good tomorrow again. Secret with cyclone swell is that you don't want the cyclone too close to coast. This gives the swell time to travel towards coast over a distance and clean up. I'm missing out tomorrow as I will be cricketing all day. Son in morning and me arvo. Hopefully get remnants Sunday.
