Australians not very Australian on the long weeked

As I said n the "what were you doing half an hr ago " thread on Friday, I have been working along the Mitchelton - Grey town road near Nagambie Victoria and was very envious of all the campers heading along there to a nice spot along the river.
I went to do a site visit today and drove past the camp ground to find camping rubbish left every where.
I just don't understand how hard is it to take your rubbish with you when you leave your piece of Australia that you've enjoyed whilst camping.
photos attached are of general rubbish,tents,mattresses, a TV etc
utterly disgusted and people wonder why areas get closed down to camping.

my pet hate nowadays is cut cable ties.. They are the "new" rope, and people just don't care.
We just moved spots in a "camping ground" and i would have counted about 50 just left on the ground!

I wonder if it is just how society is allowed to act now.  I say that after seeing on TV and reading about the huge amount of rubbish left at the major cities after the New Years Eve celebrations.  My wife and I just could not understand how it was just perfectly normal for people to throw their rubbish on the ground and the organisers accepting this and having people in place to clean it all.  So is it that although we have the Clean Up Australia campaign we need to get people use to the fact not to put the rubbish there in the first place.   Kevin

I also use a lot of cable ties camping but every single one is put in the rubbish after its been cut, not hard to put them in your spare hand and walk to the bin or rubbish bag

I think it's called respect, or more to the point the lack of it and they just don't give a and it all goes back to do-gooders and Governments that have outlawed all physical punishments and have tried to turn every body into the same shade of grey which makes you anonymous so you can do and say whatever you like, and if you do say anything you're liable to get a smack in the mouth from the yobbo., then if you take the prick to court the beak will make you the crim, when it's them that should be

Yep, I can understand that, the Ranger there used to be a real mongrel!      

Seriously, there's an old saying from my NPS days that springs to mind, the higher the altitude, the better the camper.

I have to admit if i am staying somewhere for a while i've used one or 2 cable ties.

We have a rule, though whenever i leave a location the "last" job for the wife and kids is to walk over the entire campsite and collect "anything" including little wrappers, bottle tops etc. Although we keep a pretty clean camp that last check always gets a couple of little things..

Only until Friday morning, currently camped at Noonans hut. But heading further south after that. Got to get car serviced on Monday morning in Traralgon. So will be looking at finding a camp down that way. Then heading towards Dargo after that.

May be it's so clean in the high country because you can have a fire & they burn all their rubbish??

            High 5's to Firefox.....We do the old emu bob as well.....Don't take long !!!   If every one did this simple manoeuvre it would solve a heap ....

This behaviour irritates me to no end!!!

We always check the campsite that there is nothing left behind when we leave.

Take only Pictures - Leave only footprints...  THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT!!!!!!!
