I usually lay them on the ground in front of each eyelet, then start with one end/corner, then the other end corner. I have the corner ropes 1/2 pegged in and while swmbo holds the corner poles, I hook the ropes on. 50% of the time I may have to move the corner ropes to tidy the angles up a bit.
Then with the two end corners in place, I find it easier to install the two spreaders in the middle without needing ropes straight away.  For the two middle spreaders, I have a smallish 2step ladder that we store in the walkway.
Once all four spreaders/poles are in place, using sight and the ladder as needed, I go back to each spreader and undo/adjust/re tighten as needed so that the 'L' piece on each end is securely twisted around the inside bow..
Sounds complicated, but with the 2 of us, and practice, it takes us 5 to 7minutes to get the kitchen awning up.  Hope this helps.

Happy to give you a demo on the Aus long weekend at Colac Colac caravan park .... :)

Seriously though we have a similar approach but work from the centre pole out to the corners ... Can do it myself but easier with a couple. Kids are always useful.
