Well,
We went up to Border Ranges NP for a few days and entered from the east heading over to Sheepstation Creek Camping Ground.
http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/Border-Ranges-National-Park/Sheepstation-Creek-campground/campingYou go about 10 k's and then you get to the NP entry and pay your money and that sign was there. Well one that looks like that one as thats the one from the west. We have the V6 Prado and the 16ft Outback Expanda that weighs in at about 2T and I am scratching my head trying to work out whether it means NO CARAVANS period or Caravans and Buses under 7m. I figured it meant the latter (otherwise a seven hundred point turn was in order).
Off we trot and after a few k's its into low range 1st and we are averaging 48litres per 100k's off the scangauge and doing about 10kph up these real steep inclines. Still happy.
But after a while, each time we passed another fourby this scene kept playing in the back of my head;
It really only sunk home that maybe it meant no caravans when bloody Gandalf, Bilbo and Aragorn gave me that "what a moron" look as they ducked through the gates to Moria. Finally got almost through and came across smokey the ranger coming the other way who pulled over to the side of the track and wound his window down. He was about to say something when he spied, quiet thoughtfully, the "dont say a (&&( word" look that you obtain in middle age......
We made it though. And had a ball. And the expanda was great. And the Prado was great (though bloated from the big drink...)
