Sunday mechanic in Melbourne needed
« on: December 20, 2014, 03:35:49 PM »

Well we left hobart yesterday and rolled the swags out at Beaconsfield before heading for the spirit of Tas this morning. Anyway a short distance from Beaconsfield this happens

With a tow to the spirit and a top up of transmission fluid and a fan belt trimmed after splitting along one of the ribs we are hoping we can limp on and off and sort it out in Melbourne and continue up to Byron and QLD.

Anyone know a mechanic close to port Melbourne that can do a job tomorrow? Nissan are useless and can't even talk about booking it in till Monday

The fan belt has split along one of the ribs on the belt and it ripped off a trans line. Fluid has been topped up and I have a replacement belt but have been told that I should also replace the tensioner considering this is the second time it has happened in about 3 weeks. Problem is I don't have many tools on me

I think your expecting a bit much this time of yr for anyone to have time free on a sunday.. Nissan and Monday might not be such a bad option if they can help. at least they may have the parts.

If Autobarn or Repco ( they are close to me) have the parts I don't mind picking them up and running them down to you at the docks. I have enough tools and can give you a hand to fit them. If you want to tackle it that way give me a yell

How awesome is this site? One guy has a few issues & at least 4 people offer to assist, whether it be fix the car or drink beer, well done to all of you. Many of you have probably not even met him. Good work.

If its going to be laid up in Jamie's shed for a day, you'll need to think about another supplier as well as I doubt BWS will have enough.

No worries,  Do yourself a favor and drive into the city for a look or a drive up thru the Dandenongs is good on a warm day. There is not much to do in Dandenong
If you need anything just yell I am only 10 minutes from Dandenong.

Unless you are looking for a good curry, why Dandenong of all places ? Ferntree Gully Nissan or Gary Rogers Nissan  are 2 that come to mind.
