powertech fridges any good?
« on: December 15, 2014, 11:22:57 PM »
Hey I was in jaycar the other day and saw their monthly special is a 30l powertech fridge freezer. Running a danfos compressor. I was just wondering if anyone has used one of these and if they at worth the relatively small amount of mo ey they are asking for them.

Not a bad price, no idea about how good the fridge is, guessing its a copy of one of the bigger brands just using cheaper parts, the Danfoss compressor is good.

They look like a good unit, guessing this is the one you were looking at http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=GH1600
It would run pretty good for something in the car or just small trips, but as said no idea if its any good, might pay to just add the extra few $ and get a better brand?

Not a bad warranty and probably a safe bet being a national chain. Not sure if you can get insulated cover though, not being one of the mainstream fridges. Cheers! Andrew

The powertech is the same as the ironman and a few others. I got a 40l one from Aldi a few months back and it works great.

Good to hear. I was thinking get one now and use it for day trips or overnighters. And get a 40l later and use this as a freezer and the other as a fridge for bigger trips. Cause this one is small enough to Chuck in the i30 if we decide to visit the in-laws in Townsville.

went into jaycar today and the 30l they had in stock had sold. but the guy behind the counter told me that the 40l was on sale also for $595, same deal on warranty and compressor. they also layby. so that suits me well. so i think ill be ordering one tomorrow. what does everyone think of that price.

I have seen the Engel ones. But the thing I didn't like about that particular model is the old school temp dial. And no builtbuilt in thermometer. And the cheapest model up with that in Engel was over a grand. I know they're worth there money but I'm just broke lol. If I had the cash I'd buy a known either a weaco or Engel
