Just get a good laptop, install a linux ubuntu distro, install vmware, then install windows and osx under that, best of every world, you can keep everything upto date easily, windowz will run a lot faster on a lower specked machine and no viruses  :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:

I got the sh1+s with dell couple of years ago and bought some Lenovo T series LTs , only beef so far is the rubber feet came off mine. Rock solid performer and good price.

I bought a MacBook Air and I love it. Took it through our trip and loaded my photos on it. More than happy with it. I am leaning towards a Mac stand alone for the desk. I bought it at Dick Smiths and the extended warranty. Just need to learn how to use it.

we are on a global pricing program so the prices aren't bad ... and the 2-3 times I've had an issue (always user ****ups) they are there the next day with new everything required - motherboard, screen etc...

anyway the only Lenovo models acceptable is i3's'.....

Dick Smith regularly have 10% off Apple Macs and fairly often either 12% or 14%.  You have to be on the lookout though as the bigger discounts are usually after hours online only.

I'm in education and testing a Thinkpad 12.5" Yoga atm and it's really a nice unit. I usually use a MacBook Pro retina with 128gb and it's no where near enough. 256gb minimum I think. Lenovo have an excellent reputation in the business world. MacBook battery is slightly better. New "broad well" Intel CPUs are on the way early next year if you can wait. Otherwise I would go Lenovo or Mac but in 256gb ssd and 8gb ram if you can, with 3 year extended warranty a must.

We went mac 7yrs ago.

I may have mentioned this once before;

Our Mac 24" is a 2009 model.  The only time its been reformatted is when it kept freezing.  After the reformat it kept doing it.  Then I found the spare wireless keyboard in a draw with a key held down telling it to type HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH forever.

Poor old Mac copped the blame.  Just a warning.  Dont have an affair if you also have an iphone.  As soon as I walk in the door the photos come up on the mac  :'(
My alternative to cheap import trailers;

Love my Macbook Air laptop.
Just bought an iMac 27" desktop which is even better.
I found JB had this year's models cheaper than what Harvey Norman had last years models on sale for.
I bought MS Office for Mac for the laptop so I had Word etc.   I won't bother doing this for the iMac as the bundled software has Pages, which will read & write doc files as well as Numbers , replacing Excel and Keynote instead of powerpoint.

I brought the daughter  an apple Mac pro, with the apple care - yes I've used it, hdd failure they sorted it out easily.

If I was doing it again I would buy the MacBook air 13" with the most ram / hdd I could put in it.

It's an easy decision - lighter, starts quick & they can close the lid and not crap a hdd.
Battery will last for the day.

If you do go for the MacBook pro a 13" is large enough, but again it must have a SSD in it so he can close the lid & go to the next class.

I haven't read right through this thread but if anyone hasn't already stated that with a mac you can have the best of both worlds and install windows on a separate partition and boot into whatever OS suits your mood or requirements.
I've been doing this for years on my 2007 white mac book.
They are better made and thought out than alot of the competition too.
Some other brands touchscreen models are looking good though but the duel boot is a massive advantage
