First time posting, long time user
« on: October 29, 2014, 07:28:31 PM »
Hi All, I'm a newbie from Bulleen. Thanks to all the helpful comments on this site, it was a useful tool to decide my CT.  :cup: After many months of running in circles and procrastinating, I purchased a Tambo Omeo CT. Ian from a Tambo Campers was extremely helpful and patient. For its first trip I decided to take the family to Lake Mulwala. Only 3 hours from Melbourne I thought baby steps. All went reasonably well on set up and can't wait for the next trip.

Thanks for the warm welcome. With the purchase of my Omeo I've got a boat rack, 2 solar panels attached to the underside of the Boat rack (spring out horizontally when boat rack released), all 3 walls of annex and back bedroom attachment. now that I have the trailer I am now procrastinating once again about a car. At the moment I'm doing it with a commodore and am due to upgrade. i am looking at the new Isuzu MUX or second hand Prado. Not sure. It will be a couple of years before I do any real off-roading with CT. most places I'll set the camper up at will have 2wd access or dirt roads without the need of pulleys to get me out of a bind. My commodore is getting on so if I'm going to upgrade, might as well look at something that suits pulling the CT.

Thanks KingBilly, I am leaning towards the MUX. Reasonably priced and heard from friends that own a DMax that the engine is bullet proof. Will let you know how I go.

Just booked the next family adventure up north, Eden, NSW. The family love to fish and the beaches are lovely, so why not. I'll take a few pics of the camper with its mods and post em on this forum. Happy camping

Hi All, thanks for the warm welcome. Question: I notice some campers use a kind of matting (for one of a better word) as a flooring outside the door, under the annex area. It seems to be made out of a rubber or nylon, not sure. Does this make a lot of difference to walking on grass? If it does, is there a brand I should look out for? I've only used my camper once, and it was on a good patch of grass. I noticed it outside some campers. As I've only used my camper once, and about to use it again in a few weeks, I was of the thought I may not have thought of a condition that it may be crucial to have one. Thanks all in advance. Take care

A lot of people have a woven mat made from nylon. It sort of looks like a genuine faquari rug until you touch it and realise its made from plastic. They are quite good, strong and light weight. I think ours cost about $60. We bought it at a camping show about 6 or 7 years ago.

Thanks muzza01, that's right. Great description. Do you use it all the time or isit only when the ground has no grass? Sorry for the questions. Trying to work out if I need to buy one and therefore need to pack another thing in the camper.
