99 XJ Cherokee Diesel  2010-2014

Love it even though the engine is supposed to be useful as a boat anchor.  Mine has been great, small but capable. I don't pretend this will last forever.

I drive a 2005 WG Grand Cherokee Vision Series V8 and love it. Only drive it a couple of days a week now as my daughter drives us to work/school on the "L" plates in the Suzuki Swift. But I look forward to taking the Jeep and every time I drive the Jeep I love it.

Nothing better than having the camper trailer on the back, kids all loaded up and life is sweet.

Never really understood all the Jeep haters that are out and about, perhaps because my previous ride was a Chrysler Grand Voyager so I have about 14 years of Chrysler/Jeep ownership.

I was a passenger once in an ex army surplus Jeep (GP?) that my uncle had on his farm back in the 50's. Does that count?
Funnily enough it caught fire going through wheat stubble which caught up on the zorst. Doused it with water & off we went again. Apparently a daily exercise on the farm.
This wasn't limited to the jeep though.

Yeah, righto then, we have a Jeep.

Had it for about 2.5 years and its a 2004 KJ Cherokee.

Pretty good little unit, seems fine off road, oh, except when I bogged it a few times in soft sand.  :-[

One issue it does have, and I can't get my head around it either. When its on cruise control, as it comes off, either by touching the brake or using the switch, it gets twitchy in the steering.
Cant understand any logic that can connect the two and it does it to the ol girl as well as myself.

Anyone else struck this?

WHAT????? You bought a Jeep!

Don't ever recall my KJ having a twitch.  A long shot, but any chance some of the control wires have rubbed near the steering column. Could be way off the mark here, but if the computer is sending it's signal down the wire to deactivate the cruise control, is it also talking to the power steering or accelerator for a brief second.

I also have a Jeep. 2006 KJ Cherokee CRD. Just came back from a round trip (~8000 kms) to Perth and towing a 16' caravan. Average fuel was16.2l/100. Was overtaking gutless Navaras on hills all the way across. No Hiluxes cause they cant tow anything in 5th gear. Flame on. >:D

I owned a 2003 KJ 2.8 CRD for a couple of years when I lived in the UK, great little truck, no problems at all while I owned it.

I currently own a 2003 WJ CRD had it 4 years and have done (nearly) 70,000km. I've been very happy with it as it drives very well for a live axle truck and is very capable off road in standard form. It has only let me down once when a couple of injectors failed and it wouldn't run. Five new Bosch (not Jeep) injectors into the Mercedes (not Jeep) engine and all was good again.

Would I buy another, in a word Yes!!! Would I drive it across the Simpson Desert (again) tomorrow, Yes!!!

Best part I like about owning a Jeep is it demonstrates you are an independent and free thinker  ;D

Hmmmm, I had a 96 wrangler that had way WAY to many mods on it,

Spring lift
Body lift
35" tyres
 etc etc

Problem was it wouldn't go past 75kmh on the highway haha.

Oh and any time it rained it would turn into a pool lol. Didn't matter even if the roof was on or not. Never could work out where it was leaking form.
I owned it for about 8 weeks and couldn't take it any more, It drove me NUTZ lol

If you get carried away with the lift you'll have problems with death wobble but it isn't the sole domain of Jeeps.

We test drove , and test drove the 2013 GC but couldn't do it and went a prado, after we got rid of the navara, as ours wasn't reliable,  the irony was looking at buying a jeep as the nissan kept breaking down

Hi Scarps,
I bought my 2012 Grand Cherokee Larado CRD on the 30th June this year and have already done 8000 klm. At work, I have access to our Hilux, Mitsubishi Tritons, Holden Rodeo, and 2 diesel Colorados. Didn't mind the Colorados but the diesels made more noise than go and somewhat put me off the diesel thing. Then I drove the Grand Cherokee. Very little noise, absolutely no turbo lag, also stops on a dime, consumption figures that can't be beat, and a level of appointment that that would be hard to rival. As a deal clincher the dealer fitted the tow bar at cost and I had the brake controller fitted afterwards. I've now fitted a nudge bar so we can mount a Rod Ezy holder for trips on the beach. Just look at the Expanders down under forum and the guys there with their Grand Cherokee's let alone the Caravaner's forum. People who have criss crossed Australia with 3000 kg vans on the back. As I said to Jasman in his thread, see the difference with the camper on the back. All this and mine is the 5 speed like you had. Am I happy, you betcha. Would I still help a fellow traveller in need  along the road, you betcha.

Late 80's into the early 90's  I went through my Jeep phase.
I owned two Wranglers and a Commanche.
Because I was just getting started at being a full alcoholic at the same time I really dont remember much about them other than the Wranglers were both red and the Commanche was light blue...
