Navara or triton

Ok so I was looking at the triton but have looked at the navara.my head is spinning,I like both cars.Witch is better for the daily drive and weekend/camping car.I have read a lot of good reports on the triton and no a few people with them and are happy.I also have a mate and he happy with the navara.Is the fuel economy much the same???

I'm driving an auto Navara at the moment and it is crap. It's a 2014 and very gutless and sounds like a toy car revving it's tits off to go 60km.

If so there's a new navara recently announced - due on the market next year I think.  Not sure about the triton - it is getting a bit long in the tooth too.
Should be some good deals around for current models of both.

I don't really no,the triton seems to be good value for money if you buy new,but there are some navara used going for good money with low k's,I'm really not sure

Apart from looking at specs and driving both, have a look at cabin layout and sit in the rear seat.  One thing I really like about my Navara is the way the rear seats fold up and out of the way, leaving a really good cargo area.  This is where I carry most of my soft luggage when travelling. The rear doors swing wide giving good access. 

I have a Navara - no dramas with it.  My mate has a Triton, and also has no dramas.

Oh...one other thing.  Navaras do have a habit of wearing out the factory clutch very quickly.  If you're buying used, make sure it has had a heavy duty clutch upgrade.

Re fuel economy - I'm getting around 10-11 L/100 km city driving.  On a recent trip towing the camper it was up around +14L/100km

Of those 2 I'd be looking for a triton with a factory diff lock if your going to be doing some decent 4wding in it.
Both are good in light offroad stuff but when it gets a bit hairy, they get stuck pretty easy. a diff lock triton would be best of them offroad.
Onroad I'd say the navara is probably a nicer drive

I have a 07 triton and it's great I was looking at the Nissan when I was buying a car and when with the triton for the rear window and the back seat leg room if you have people sitting the the rear then the triton has a bit more leg room over the navara but the Stx nav rear seat can fold up for more gear storage I get about 9.5lts city driving in peak hr with the 3.2 litre diesel but when I tow the ct with the motorbikes and fully loaded(probably overloaded) it gets 12 litres to the 100km on the highway or city

I thought I'd heard all of the internet "faults" with Navara's, but points to you, that's a new one! I've owned 3 of them & never had a single door lock break. I guess I'm just lucky?

Had a 2005 pathfinder. And sold it last year with 195,000 Km's and didn't have to replace anything other than a new battery. (Did have one rear door handle fail, but fixed it with a cable tie).
Now have a new Navara and can't fault it, although despite the engine having a higher output, it feels less powerful.  Both were autos and both returned an average of low 9's without the camper.
Did look at the Triton and the cheaper price and great warranty was tempting but it felt narrow and cheaper inside.
Still happy to recommend the Navara.

I have had 2 Navaras and the latest one has just been to Cape York and back via OTT with no worries at all.  Has 2" lift to cover the clearance issues. We also covered the Old Coach Road from North to South again no problems.  Drives well plenty of power reasonable economy considering it was over 3 tonnes. This one is auto and drives well on the road. Just saying. ...

I had an '07 Navara for a while and loved it except for the high ratio of the 1st gear (manual) when pulling away from a start anywhere.   Not sure what the new ones are like though, this would be a problem towing any weight and trying to hill start, I would think clutches would suffer.  An auto would be the choice in this instance, saying that the Nav was great, heaps of power and comfortable to drive.  Do the new ones rear seats still fold up?  Even with the '07 the difference between the Thai and Spanish built, one did and the other didn't (just going from memory, 6 years ago at 50 is a long time  ).

Now the Triton, I have been driving 1 for the past 6 months, 3 days a week for about 5 hours a day.  In my opinion they have the worst front seats and driving position, my back was killing me after a couple of hours.  I'm 5'8" and average build so it's not a size thing.

I called nissan yesterday and they told me there was no more new cars comming in.there is a new model comming out next year.now could be a good time to get a deal on a new one.i have read a few other comments and from what I can see the navara is more comfort on the road

Some time ago I read on the Newtriton forum http://www.newtriton.net/ that someone is selling seat spacers to raise the front seats on the Triton ..  from what I was reading at that time it made one heck of a difference in comfort of the front seats on the Triton.

This is true in regards to the seat spacers.

I'm 6.1 and have never felt uncomfortable in the seat and have done many hours behind the wheel.

The triton I feel is the best priced dual cab on the market atm and with a good suspension set up (Ultimate for me) and some decent rubber you'll be more than happy

Don't be scared either by the bending quote by bird as I've seen just about all the current manufactures having issues
