I know there has been plenty of generator bashing threads but anyway- we have just returned from 3 months up the centre, and down the west coast. The amount of mostly grey nomads that pulled up as close as they could to us, pulled out the genny and pulled out the satelite dish at three o'clock in the afternoon then the tv was at full blast and could be heard over the generator until they went to bed.
These were $100000 rigs which should of had enough built in power the tv no worries. The must not have had charging from the car because anybody who has driven the west coast would know, there is plenty of driving.
Nothing against them in the right place.
We used our generator twice, once at eyres rock when it rained for a few days for an hour mid afternoon ( we have a compressor fridge in our van and were way down the back of the overflow area) to boost the batteries back up and once at Hattah for the same reason.
Anyway, we were just picky with our camp sites when we could be.
On the satellite issue, we saw some serious desperadoes who even cut trees down to get some tv.
