A mate and I camped at 8 mile camp on Dartmouth dam once. I think it was just after Australia Day and we had just missed the people before us because the fire was still smouldering and there was rubbish everywhere including a ring of tissues that must have been just been out of the light of the fire. We picked up two black garbage bags of empty bottles and cans - Pigs ! . The funny side to this was that they had also let fireworks off and there was a big fireworks " cake " that must have had twenty or so shots in it. Being cardboard , it went on the fire with the other paper rubbish and we started to set up camp. What we didn't know was there were unexploded shots left and next minute BANG , BANG ,BANG which scared the crap out of us. One came at us and we were hiding behind the edge of a tarp totally confused as to what was happening. We then noticed up the hill in two spots fires had started so we had to quickly grab a bucket and put the fires out , running through long grass in summer in bloody thongs too - yikes. We were just glad we had decided to set up and not just go fishing cause we would have heard the bangs and just thought someone was shooting while the bush caught fire. We still laugh about it now. - Raider
