When does a 4wd start getting called a truck?
« on: August 17, 2014, 05:32:11 PM »
Now I've been thinking about this and even had the discussion over a beer or 4.

But when or how does a 4wd start getting called a "truck".
I mean a 4wd is just that isn't it? Just as a truck is what ACA tv programs  just rave on about?

Just a question?

Joe

My understanding is that for a number of reasons they are referred to as 'light trucks'.

IMO, it's a complete toss to refer to any wagon-bodied 4WD as a truck, but plenty do..... ::)

Arrrrrrrr.  But drives like a truck. Handles like a truck. Sound like a big diesel.

But my wife calls it a barge... or if shes being nice the Titanic.

Still a 4wd isn't it?

If Landcruiser it's a car.
If Landrover it's a waste
If Patrol it's a 4by
If Iveco daily, Unimog etc it's a truck
If Jeep it's a piece of ....

A B double doesn't have a tray or tub that you are describing and I am sure that is a Truck, take away the trailers and leave the prime mover, no tray or tub and it's still a truck

My definition is for the issue in question, when does a 4by get called a truck. Not into semantics.
