Disco balls - disco lighting for home party - advice please
« on: August 16, 2014, 06:44:24 AM »
Hi guys,
The weather will be warming up in 4 or 5 weeks up here and we will be having our spring pool party.  It is a fairly large area and we have quite a few friends over regularly for pool parties.
We have a lot of neon lights etc already down here but our friends reckon it would be awesome if we had disco lights as well.

I was wondering if anyone has a good setup at home or are there any DJ's that can recommend a good setup. They have these on ebay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUPlug-Mini-RGB-Auto-strobe-Rotating-LED-Crystal-Ball-Stage-Light-Disco-Lighting-/111348412458?pt=AU_Stage_Lighting_Effects&hash=item19ece1f02a&_uhb=1
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RGB-LED-Party-Disco-Club-DMX-DJ-Light-Crystal-Magic-Ball-Effect-Stage-Lighting-/111378659980?pt=AU_Stage_Lighting_Effects&hash=item19eeaf7a8c&_uhb=1

But I was thinking maybe a spinning ball and a strobe light like this one
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Disco-Party-DJ-Club-Strobe-Mini-Laser-Light-Sound-Activated-Stage-Effect-OZ-Plug-/121379624040?pt=AU_Stage_Lighting_Effects&hash=item1c42ca1468&_uhb=1
Didn't really want to buy something off eBay if it doesn't do the job properly.  This is the party area. Any advice or links would be appreciated.

I seen a speaker setup in JB HI-FI  that has a decent speaker and a rotating ball with strobe lights on top it's also portable I think. It looked alright when they had it on but did not have a good look.

Thanks Mate. It is a great spot. Looks great at night time or even better with some DISCO LIGHTS and the music pumping

Yeah I am after one that has the lights move or change with the beet of the music. There are plenty on eBay but I would like to try before I buy or get a recommendation of a fellow Swagger.

A lot of people had disco balls back in the seventies, it was from wearing those tight pants.

Hi Muzza

We have the second one you mentioned (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RGB-LED-Party-Disco-Club-DMX-DJ-Light-Crystal-Magic-Ball-Effect-Stage-Lighting-/111378659980?pt=AU_Stage_Lighting_Effects&hash=item19eeaf7a8c&_uhb=1) and it works extremely well and is of reasonable quailty .I am not sure it would meet all australian standards but we have been using it on and off for two years with out an issue
