Gidday JC (I have always wanted to say that ...
)
I got 8, but never got a HSC either as I dropped out......
That was always my SWMBO's excuse for everything, then at 60+ she undertook a Diploma of Ceramics at Dandy TAFE. She won first prize for her "body of work" at the end of her final year exhibition, and got really top marks. I don't know if she topped the course or not, but she sure as hell did extremely well! So that excuse has whiskers on it now ...
.
This year she started a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Uni. They gave her credit for the entirety of first year ... Starting at second year level has been a shock to her system, but at least she has me and a very good friend who also started the same course in 2nd yr to guide her a bit (I have two or three tertiary quals ... ; and our friend has a Masters degree in Philosophy from a European Uni). So after spruiking to all and sundry that she "might pass" in each of the 4 subjects, she turned in 3x HDs and 1x D for her first semester results ... .
None of us believe her any more ...

Finishing whatever level of formal education, or not, does not in any way determine whether you are smart, average or downright stupid.
And these things do not determine how good a human being you are, either. Some of my best and most true and trusted friends are almost certifiably stupid, but I would hand them my Uzi and machete and let them stand behind me in a (very) tight spot. They are also better human beings than I will ever be, or am capable of becoming.
I guess Forrest Gump was right, stupid is as stupid does.
I know people with degrees coming out their anus, but they are still stupid ...
It is
possible to get "an education" at University, just highly unlikely, IME & IMFAO! Qualifications without a commitment of life-long learning aren't worth a bumper, and having no formal education but with a commitment to life-long learning makes for an educated and often wise person ... Just IMHO, of course.
