Nah it was made compliant with a sticker. It reads "don't operate this if you are stupid, incapable, or speewa". Was nice to see you get your own category   >:D

How deep is the wood box in those heaters i.e. how long can the wood be that you can put in?

So about (consulting my unit converter  ;D) 250mm!

Might have to google these units. Might be a good thing if one was building a new house and needed a new wood heater.

They are a bit dearer but much more efficient than Australian made unit unfortunately. I know of a person who took out the old fire and put in a Euro and significantly reduced the wood usage, its all to do with the shape of the fire box. Aussie flat and wide, Euro skinny and tall, its seems to burn well and only produce a small amount of ash.

Thanks for the info (and the warning GG!). I like the idea of less ash. Nay-DMAX liked the look of these so might look into them for the new house.

Thanks guys

Not good news.....

Indeed but it was always coming. We haven't been allowed to move/pickup/collect fallen logs in our area for a while. Apparently the native animals use the fallen logs for habitat...

I'm lucky enough to have friends on farms so we are not desperate, but that'll run out one day too.

Then I suppose we'll have to import firewood  :'(
