Fuel economy

Just returned to Geelong after a quick trip to the Gold Coast. Average fuel economy there and back was 11lt/100km.  2013 3.2 Ranger manual towing a fully loaded Swan.  How do these figures compare with what others get? We sat on 112-115 most of the way.

Good figures for towing!

I'd be happy with that in the BT-50 if I'm pulling the boat somewhere!

Similar to what we get with the Navara towing our Swan. It's just been sold and waiting for the arrival of a c c c caravan, will be interesting  to see what it's like then.

Modern diesels are extremely economical. I normally get about 16 in the 80 series without towing!

I am in the mid 14's on my 1HDT auto without towing. Mind you it's only around the 17's- 18's when towing the Modcon camper.

I am around 13 towing the Goldstream with the Dmax

I did get it down to 12 towing a mates box trailer camper

I think the goldstream makes it use a bit more fuel as it is heavy and is also wider than the car so there is a bit of wind drag going on

Lol, I'm getting low 20's without towing around town but I'm happy to trade fuel cards with ya.  :cheers:

My 80 1HTD 31x10.5x15 standard height, roof racks & basket packed, fully loaded with 60lt fridge in the back and towing a very heavy old Swan I can avg 17l/100k. traveling at 95kph, in fourth gear
Running around town and going to work she uses about 9l/100k.
I do run 42psi cold in the tyres,  tyre pressure can have a big effect on economy as well as ride comfort. I don't mind having a harder rider.
Of cause if I act like a Richard Cranium and race everything, the old girl can drink a fair bit more  ;D

Here in NZ, petrol $2.21 and diesel $1.47?????????
Hence us hiring a brand new Captiva which only had 5kms on clock. Averaged under 8kms per 100 for our 2 weeks here for over 2000kms driving.

i'm assuming the esky was full at the start and empty at the end, so your economy might have been a bit better going home... :)

Yep it's official.....

Just took the 200 series and Trackabout for a fuel consumption test run.

Scan guage hit 7.2 litres per 100 for 3 seconds of the 25k trip.

So according to my calculations I'm getting 7.2L per 100 at 160 kph.

I reckon if I pump up the tyres to 145 psi and drop back to 150 kph  I should be able to hit the 6l per 100 club.
