I would like to think that most people would put their hand up and take responsibility for damaging someones property.
Unfortunately this is becoming all to rare these days.
Many years ago an older woman backed into the drivers headlight of our VL Dunnydoor while it was parked at work.
She came in to work asking who's red Commodore was parked in the car park, she was very distressed and shaking. I recognized her from living near a dairy on my way to work.
We both went out to check it out, there was no panel damage just a broken head light.
So there and then I rang the wreckers, who I got on well with, 130 bucks, she drove out there and picked it up.
That night I replaced it without too much drama.
The following afternoon on my way home I dropped a couple of big blocks of chocolates off to her on my way home to say thank you.
Her son who has Down syndrome squeezed me to death with cuddles, saying thank you thank you.
A couple of days later the owner of the dairy dropped into see me with a hand written thank you note from her and he thanked me for helping her out, he explained she had no insurance, her car was due for rego soon, and her husband had not long past away and her son needed a lot of help.
This something that I will remember for many years.

I don't understand why others that have insurance or can well afford to fix their mistakes don't put they hand and take responsibility
