It will be a pity to see the season finale of Bogan Hunters next week...
I like being able to see the recipients of my tax dollars! Watching them on TV through Bogan Hunters is a safe and easy way of checking up on these lovely hard done by people, whilst they are between jobs
I mean, it would be a waste to use this money on Health, Education or infrastructure wouldn't it?
On the other hand, it has got me thinking a little bit, that maybe, just maybe, our welfare system needs some reform... Hang on, hang on, steady up.... What! I want to reform the system and reduce their dependence on welfare and encourage them to get a job? That's mad! Or is it?
A mate of mine who is both a historian and an economist (has a doctorate in the pograms of the baltic states of all things) tried to explain to me once that if you can get your head around the lack of justice that many bums like these will probably never work while we do it is actually good for the economy.
Paraphrasing here but it was something like the majority pay taxes and some of that fund these bums. Bums that you don't want in the workplace as they are disruptive and a danger to themselves and others.
You are also paying them just enough to keep them going and every single dollar you invest in them comes back to the local and larger communities in the way of VN Commodores, petrol, cigs, take aways etc. You can be pretty well assured that they are not investing our $$ for the future.
Because of their poor diets they die far earlier and are off the books at a youngish age.
This investment in tax dollars stops them going right off their nuts and revolting against the masses as they did in the French Revolution. The worst thing the govt can do is make it that hard that they turn on us (more) by stealing our gear (more often). A community will always have flotsam.
So its a win - win.
