New truck and not excited!
« on: June 29, 2014, 09:45:31 AM »
weird thing goin on ATM, about 3 years ago i started planning for buying a new work truck at the end of 13/14 financial year (yes we plan these things way ahead) been running my 1999 hilux and while basic it has been a good truck, fast foward a bit and i get all hot for the new DMAX, quite a step up but well overdue! However we found ourselves camping more and more, then started draggin the box trailer further offroad, then our 10 year old cheapo tent started to leak so i surmised a CT would now be a good idea! so 8 months of research and dreaming we ordered a cub brumby in early june full well knowing i would have to get a ute at some stage as i have commited to passing my lux down to my nephew on his L plates soon to get licensed.

So here we are: the camper is due around early august, and so is the Dmax, didnt plan it but i am more excited about the camper than the ute......in the past any new car purchase was a big deal! I think i am suffering some sort of campertraileritis, my thoughts keep wafting back to the little things i want to add on to the cub....

not doing any camping with the Dmax, got the 200 for that, but i think the brumby is taking centre stage here! sorta feel like a spoiled brat right now

My hip pocket is about to get hit big time.....

2010 TTD Landcruiser, i have added stuff but can't remember what! Slowly gettin quicker at setting up the brumby but breaking camp is another matter....

Ah yes, the campertraileritis affliction, just means you're showing your age and it's now about relaxation and comfort and less about speed and chrome:-)

You will get excited about the ute when it comes to the day, and a big smile when driving it to and from jobs.

The camper is something new in your life. its a big step up from a tent..

Go to sydney and see if you are allowed to walk the factory floor to see it being built, and ask for the new mods while you are there.

yes still into speed.....drag gemini in the works amongst a shed full of other rare gemini's....everyday is gemini related but yea the camper is the thing occupying my thoughts most!

we have been pondering where to go for a couple nights when we get the CT.....was thinking Cruiser park to try a few tracks with it, but maybe just end up at Neerim creek, better for the kids, first night spent in it will prolly be in the driveway tho!

I did 1100km in the work DMAX last week, it normally is just used for around town and we use the prado or work mate for big trips. Anyway I'm a convert. Was thinking about what might be a Pathfinder replacement in a year or so and I reckon DMAX/MUX will definitely be on the list. Reckon a CUB and a DMAX is a recipe for some great times.

Sounds like lots of shiny new stuff for you, the DMax will take it's place when the time comes, then the Cub will trample all over it when that comes, then the next shiny new toy will top the camper... :D

We are all addicted to shiny new toys, as Pete said the camper is somethign totally new to you, a ute isn't.

Enjoy them both for what they are.

Like most, it sounds like you get excited about trips away rather than getting excited about work. Its normal.

As previously said, you will get excited about the car when the time comes.

Yea gettin impatient now!

To make matters worse i have ditched the old rusty prado steelies and fitted some sunnies with bridgestone at rubber with new flares to the lux, now it looks like a hilux should! Gonna be hard to hand it over to the nephew in a few weeks, especially after i fit the new exhuast

Gonna miss the old girl, hopefully the new one will live upto expectations

Cheers
