Brazil World Cup 2014
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:16:07 AM »
Just wondering if anyone else has been watching the world cup.
This one thing on my bucket list to do go and see in my life.

Nup, I lost interest in it when they started rolling around on the ground crying, when someone got to close to them.  ::) It used to be a good game.   ;)

Oh yes. While I appreciate the awesome skills shown at times, the constant histrionics is like watching WWF. Fair dinkum, some of them look like they've been shot with an elephant gun only to amazingly rise and play on after penalty awarded.

Yeah Germany WC finals did it for me. Italy deserved to beat Australia but not by a fall.

Aust competing in the world cup is akin to Managatang seconds playing Geelong at full strength.

I'm watching mate. Love it in fact.
Try to watch all games, but happy if I catch a couple each day. The mrs knows that it's my one month every 4 yrs to sleep on the couch and leave me the hell alone when Aus is playing!!

I don't usually watch Soccor (no matter how hard people try to say otherwise, it'll always be Soccor to me), but i did watch the Australian game yesterday morning as it was on when i turned the telly on whilst lying in bed. might catch a few other games on during the event or parts there of, but i certainly won't be getting up early to do it, just watch if it happens to be on at the time i'm looking.

I love it, but could do without all the antics. Nice to see a couple of the refs are actually ignoring the theatrics this time around.

Soccer does turn me into a bit of a monster when I watch it :-[

I'm generally a good sport, but I really hope Italy loses their next game (I don't hold grudges...much >:D)

Has already been full of upsets this week. The Aussies were sensational and instead of bagging them and comparing them to a sport that only rates in the south of Australia we should be supporting them. After all it's the real football and the most watched sporting event in the world.

I reckon the Aussies played great, just a bit nervous the first 15 - 20 minutes.
Good to see the young ones getting a shot on the big stage.
Football (soccer) will take over as our number one sport in the future.

Sorry but the best thing about Soccer is that the highlights only take a minute or two for all the games played.

And yes it is Soccer not football, otherwise the Australian Team would be call the Footballroos, or Footyroos, not the Socceroos!!!!

Whilst I do prefer to call the game soccer myself, it is the only true football code where you can only use your feet.

Every other code throws and passes the ball around, and what's with the girly AFL passes? Surely AFL should be re-classified as handball, not football? >:D ;D

Aussies doing quite well considering calibre of opposition. Both games thus far could easily have gone the other way if key moments went other way. Certainly not being embarrassed like the media claimed

I dont really follow soccer & fully expected us to be annihilated in all games in our 'group of death' however they have shown great skill & courage in the 2 games so far and i am really happy for them & proud of them.
