Just spent the weekend at Loveday, which is great, great camp spots, great 4WD challenges - just awesome.
So where is the woe, let me begin.
My wife is kinda OCD when it comes to bathing. She quite often showers up to 3 times a day and no less than twice. This has presented the greatest challenge to her camping interest so far. To date we had been at places with showers, so this time out we had no facilities. We chose to get an Aqua Cube logic, actually she chose it based on "get the most expensive" which I supported as it is one that you can still use off both 12V power and the internal batteries at the same time, because a flat battery mid shower at night would be bad right?.... can you see where this is going?
Firstly, I did test the brand new unit at home - all good.
Night one, wife gets in, unit fires up, all good hot water, soaps up, unit stops heating, 4C rinse. I was a bit sloshed and could not get the thing to heat yelling and associated bad stuff ensues.
Next day, sober and shocking headache - have a look. Unit fires up like nothing had ever happened. I had a shower and one of the kids. Worked a treat.
That night, wife goes in, same result, 4C rinse, and our camping and marriage future in jeopardy.
The next day I looked again, headache in tow. Although the problem now seems not enough flow to result in hot water ignition. Flow rates from pump are huge, yet out of the unit it is now a trickle, must be blocked. Unit gets banished to the trailer and back to heating a crab pot next to the fire.
It's gone in to the shop under warranty, the bloke at Snowy's went a bit white at my tale, so I'm hoping they just replace the whole thing. I have since bought a backup 12V shower so I could heat water separately if need be
- Moral of the story, always have a backup, always!
