Best Inventions / Ideas from Members
« on: June 07, 2014, 05:59:02 PM »
So many talented people are on here and we should have a separate section for the ingenuity some members have come up with.

We could nearly have a dedicated area for this. Mods let me know what you think.

The Touareg's well for the spare will only hold a deflated space saver so if you want to carry a full time spare you need another way.   This uses an old 50mm square hitch welded to a bit of square tube & plate.   It needs to drop (via a 2 pin connection) to allow the rear hatch to open.
Inventions don't need to be complicated.
And I could still tow the Jayco with it.
If anybody is interested, PM me for more photos/details.

Great idea , but is it legal welding onto a tow hitch like that? How much does it move around while your driving? I don't know about wall thickness , but it looks like 50x50 RHS. If it was me I would have some gussets and something under the wheel to take the weight instead of just the studs/bolts or whatever is holding it now. Insurance might be another problem if it decided to part company with your tug. I hope I'm wrong because I do like the idea for the camper.  ???

Not my invention, but I do think the MYSWAG forum is a good invention.
How else would we share and pinch each others ideas.
