Camping at Neurum Creek Bush Retreat
« on: May 25, 2014, 05:08:10 PM »
A question for anyone who has camped at Neurum Creek, Qld.

I will be camping here in July and was wondering whether there is a firewood merchant in the area who sells and delivers firewood to the camping area? I'm assuming there would be someone from either Woodford or Kilcoy who would sell firewood.

I need name and contact details if anyone knows of someone in the area thanks.

Cheers.

Paul

They sell firewood in plastic shrunk wrapped packs on site, the same sort of thing you can buy from a servo, cannot remember what the price was but at the time it was comparable for the same sort of quantity anywhere else

I was there earlier this month. As well as what they sell onsite there are two firewood sellers on the road between Neurum Creek and Kilcoy.

One had a sign but you couldn't see anything from the road. The other had two huge piles of split firewood.

Yeah there is a guy on the road from woodford on the right hand side. Has big piles of wood, you will see from the road.
He is a good bloke to deal with, I buy my split posts from him.

Problem is that he is not always there.

Pm me if you need his phone number.

Thanks for all the info. That's fantastic.

I knew the camp sold firewood in 15 kilo bags but I was looking for perhaps a trailer load as we will be camped there for the week. I don't suppose anyone would know whether the owners mind you having a trailer load delivered on site would they ?

Cheers.

You are allowed to bring your own wood in, so dont see how they could care if you had someone deliver a trailer load to your site.

When after local info in a rural town, ring the pub.

Robertson Bros Sawmill on old wolvi rd Gympie (just near the Victory Hotel) sell firewood for $20 a trailer load as long as you load it yourself. It's all the off cuts that are around the 30-40cm length. Some of it is a bit green but if you get it from the back of the pile, which is huge, its usually aged and has the right moisture content for those important toe warming fires whilst you indulge in a few beverages. I usually grab a trailer load once a year and just load it into those plastic feed bags as I need it for camping, keeps it dry and prevents all the mess associated with carrying wood. Just my .5cents worth
