Lots of haters so thought I better give some balance to the argument. I've had my Grand Cherokee for over two years now and I honestly believe it's the best value, best driving vehicle in the segment and I guess this is reflected in sales volume. It is a little softer offroad (not that I've bogged it yet) but it has three great engine options including a diesel that kills everything in the class and quadra lift air suspension that is is fantastic option.
It's let down by a lack of underbody protection, in particular around the bumper which they recommend you remove before heading offroad. They've also been plagued by a bunch of software bugs which I think are nearly sorted as you hear less and less about them but things like the sand driving issue was very annoying for those affected.
I've noticed the aftermarket is catching up with ARB releasing a bar and lift in recent times, also a company called Cheif doing good work with recovery hooks and underbody protection. Murchinson's, Uneek and ECB were on the band wagon earlier so good for them.
I'm pricing a new one at the moment along with a Ranger and a Prado, the only reason I'm considering anything other than the Jeep is because Chrysler Australia are a joke when it comes to parts availability - it seems that everything I've needed is 2-4wks away and as I need the car for work it's not acceptable and really has me questioning my loyalty.
Here's my baby, isn't she pretty!
