Disc-o-bed bunk beds
« on: May 11, 2014, 09:22:43 PM »
Has anyone used these?
http://www.tentworld.com.au/products/bedding/item/disco-bed-cam-o-bunk.aspx

They look pretty awesome in terms of strength and comfort - but a bit fiddly to put together perhaps?

Tentworld still have them listed at $379 so I guess that will remain the price under the new name.  Not cheap!

My sister has a set, bought from Tentworld late last year when they had them on sale for $299. We've borrowed them quite a few times, and will probably grab our own set soon. Great in the camper, but also really handy at home for kiddie sleepovers.

It does look like a lot of pieces, but they assemble surprisingly quickly. For use in a camper, we've always just taken the ends off and left the stretchers & sides assembled on top of the main bed. Takes only a few minutes from there to have it all set up.

They're an incredibly solid unit. I've used the top bunk by myself, nobody on the bottom, and had no concerns about stability. They're also quite spacious - I'm 6 foot, 110kg, and there's plenty of length and width for me to get comfy. Easy to get in and out of, too, with no support bars through the middle of the beds.

Probably overkill for a couple of little kids, but a good unit if you want sturdy bunks that adults can use as well.

Looking at the Kid-O-Bunk, seems to be just a newly released model that's a bit more compact for the kiddies.

Cam-O-Bunk XL: 208cm L x 100.5cm W x 92.5cm H
Kid-O-Bunk: 165cm L x 82.5cm W x 81cm H

We've had some and as mentioned very sturdy. Used by the military in some countries. Been around for many moons as disc-o-beds. Pricy but great quality.

Cam o bunk 225 kg per cot.

Kid o bunk 200 lb per cot.

I wonder if the cam o bunk should be 225 lb?

Would be ok for kids under 10, we had bunks but as soon as the eldest hit 9/10 they were no good.

225kg  is right for the Cam-O-Bunk XL.  We clarified with the manufacturer too, there's no reduction when in bunk mode either... still 225kg each.
